I got mine today, no idea if it's a KO or not because while it was clearly advertised as official, I got it from a Chinese seller on eBay for about £50. Seems to have the same issues as all the others though, so it makes little difference. It's not an infuriating figure, just a frustrating one due to how marred it is with design flaws, despite its excellent appearance. It's one where I find a problem, come up with a make-shift fix, fiddle contently with it for a while and then cause another flaw to rear its head. I managed to get it 99% into truck mode without instructions, only for the final few minutes of trying to compress the cab down being irritating enough for me to just turn it back into a robot. At the very least I now have a fairly accurate Ironhide for my original cast, but I can't say I'm keen on buying further MPMs. Hopefully Megatron won't be such a mess.
An addendum - those clips holding the hood armatures to the chest are the worst thing ever. As has previously been discussed, there's too little support to prevent them warping and the one on my Ironhide's left barely holds anymore (after maybe a collective hour's use...), losing what little stability that shoulder had in the first place. I really really want to like this figure, but I genuinely can't understand why such a design was put out instead of a refined version of the Studio Series design or even the old DOTM or 2007 Voyagers. All three of those figures even get the rear shoulder panels in the correct position that this high-end Masterpiece doesn't!
It's a shame that you weren't able to enjoy the figure fully. While I've been able to turn it into a truck fully so far, when it comes to binge transformation pastime this figure tends to take up most time compared to the others.
Excellent, if I were DNA I might have also included a new right cannon fodder that fits closer to his arm, but regardless this set looks like it will do a lot to improve a heavily flawed figure
Not bad. I was hoping that it would not be partsforming, though, given that excellent Studio Series Kit.
This looks cool, but based off my experience with a similar 3D printed piece I got, that back piece won’t help the chest stay in place. Over time, the plastic will warp and the fit won’t be snug anymore, so moving the shoulders will make everything just as floppy as before. It’d be awesome if DNA design revised it somehow and that won’t be an issue
