I feel like it's a bit inappropriate for me to keep posting non-Gunpla builds in the "Show off your Gundams" thread, so here I go with my model builds. 20190508_212727.jpg 1:150 scale Type-IX B U Boat by Academy. I'm not finished with it. Still gotta paint a few things, mount up the railings and seal the SOB. Beyond that I need to battery-test it 'cause I'm not sure securing a wire to a bolt with Cyanoacrylate, instead of a nut that was missing out of the box, was such a good idea.

    Also in Progress:
    AMT's 1:25 A-Team Van (pictures to come)
Monogram's 1:72 Grumman Albatross (pictures to come)

Since Im here, here's the Ectomobile I completed last week

20190511_164927.jpg I bought some tan today, so the areas on the deck that were clearly wood panels (rather than the entire deck, as Academy's instructions recommended) got painted. I installed one of the railing sets, so that's done too. I'm probably gonna go over the barrels on the deck guns with my own attempt at gunmetal (three parts blue to one part black with some silver mixed in for sparkle effect) before I finish painting the screw.

20190511_164919.jpg Starboard wing on the albatross is coming along nicely. I've gotta repaint the wing where my masking failed and channelled yellow paint where it didn't belong.
Since Monogram decided that both pilots were insignificant details at 1:72 scale, they're both molded identically- staring out the port-side of the windshield. I didn't agree, so I beheaded the copilot and repositioned his head to where he's looking out the front if only just to see how well the new Tamiya extra-thin cement I bought works.

So the base for the U-Boat got some love 20190513_084900.jpg
After discussing it with my Ex-US Army husband, I'm leaving the Deck Guns as they are. Still need to patch the gouge and paint the lower-hull, but Im happy with the U-boat as it is now. Gonna call it "finished for now".

albatross is going along well. 20190514_215812.jpg Body is built up. Ya can't see it, but the Pilots are painted up. The gear on the starboard wing gave me a HELL of a scare when it split, thankfully the new cement fixed that right up.
I put two pennies in the front, but this bird is still resting on its tail-end. Gonna have to figure out how to rectify that.

20190516_090834.jpg Here's the best shot I can get of my pilots. I really need to work on my figure painting techniques...
20190516_091443.jpg I put all the decals on the Albatross. Ive gotta install the antennae, give a few spots of paint, re-mask the Windows, and give this bird a flat-coat and call it finished

Three hours later, and the Albatross is done. 20190516_120124.jpg 20190516_120114.jpg 20190516_120008.jpg 20190516_115957.jpg

Thank you, I was posting updates for my Ectomobile build back on the Gunpla thread, but then once I finished building Ecto-1/A, I figured it wasn't appropriate to continue posting my non-Gundam model builds in that thread, so I moved my model-making here to my own dedicated thread.

That said, I really liked Hadlen_Welltall's input when I was posting in the Gundam thread. I kinda consider him my model-building mentor of sorts.

    This is cool stuff!
I appreciate model building. I was a big model builder as a kid.
    Really like the Albatross.

Yep, Jo Harding's Jeep J10 Honcho pickup truck from Twister.

Hers was a newer model year than this kit, but it's as close as I can get it. I have to make a new decal set, the kit-provided stripes are alright, but I need them in Blue and black.

Also considering making a Dorothy-I to go in the bed.

Should turn out pretty nice when it's done. The Dorothy would be pretty cool.

Because I'm so unfocused, I decided this Boeing B-17 I bought seven years ago needed some attention 20190604_104715.jpg 20190604_104704.jpg 20190604_104606.jpg 20190604_104552.jpg

I got some Dark Green, so the 1:48 B-29 Superfortress flight deck got painted up and built over the last couple days. 20190610_093949.jpg 20190610_093932.jpg 20190610_093548.jpg 20190609_090603.jpg 20190609_090532.jpg 20190609_090438.jpg I think I'll make the top turrets removable so the interior is more visible (really easy mod, just have to sand down the retainer tabs so they don't catch the lip like they're supposed to)
