Meh. If there was ever a character who was deserving of losing an alt mode and being a retool, Slamdance is it. Flywheels works pretty perfectly for him anyway, even if he does end up being upside-down.

Yes, they are very nice figures.
That are also completely oversized compared to Masterpiece Soundwave. Correct sized bot mode or chest storage, pick One.

 

Honestly I think having them be iPods/iPhones connecting to Soundwave as a speaker dock was the best way to update them for the modern age. I think with a better budget those could have turned out a lot better, but like you said by limiting to the cheaper price point getting those better versions is impossible.

I do like the Micromaster approach, too, I think they turn out all right, but I know Hasbro isn't likely to do Rumble/Frenzy or Ratbat molds let alone even start in on the Autobot cassettes, so if Slamdance has to be a Duocon now in order to exist then so be it.

 

This, I have to agree.

You know the feeling is like me looking at my Superlink Rodimus figure (wearing Grand Convoy as his pants) & yet calling him Grand Convoy.

Except that with Superlink, I could easily reverse the order so I could end up with Rodimus or Grand Convoy (depending on which combination I settle for) but for Siege Slamdance, I couldn't.  

 

My Only complaint is I wish we had Sunstreaker before we got G2 Sideswipe.

 

That would require a whole new toy.

 

I think it's helpful to get the obvious repaints out of the way before going on to new molds. I would welcome a Siege style Sunstreaker. I also hope a third party company makes a custom Bandolier belt for G2 Sideswipe (preferably one that can transform/break apart so it can also be part of his car mode).

 

True. I keep forgetting that Sunstreaker is a different mold. They shared one in the pre-combiner wars generations days. I just keep focusing on the fact they are brothers

 

I'm willing to bet we'll get Streaker in either this line, or next year's (assuming they're still going to stick to Cybertronian alt modes in 2020)

I understand. Hasbro intentionally made the Universe mold able to convert both ways to represent both characters. But generally speaking, they're different toys.

it was just kind of happenstance that the figure was capable of an alternate transformation. sunstreakers bot mode for the universe figure is basically an official fan mode of the design

Normally I\'d have little interest in repaints, but G2 Sideswipe is an instant buy for me as a Marvel TF comics fan! I got the normal version today and was just wishing for a G2 version when I saw this post! But where are the bandoliers, spikes and SWORD! It\'s the 90\'s, folks! C\'mon!  

 

If he comes back as a cassette, he can get his original configuration and colors back. As it is, it’s like Wingwaver being released as Waverwing.

 

To be fair, that is a better name.
