Is it just me or does this guy seem to be getting next to no attention? He's a really solid crack at Springer and, as far as I can tell, none of the usual suspects have a video on him.

It does seem that way. Odd. Not getting the attention that a Fans Toys release would get. And I have Apache, but Saltus is no slouch in comparison.

To be fair, not many have him in hand yet. Seems all of us who have him ordered from Planet Steel directly. I think Fans Toys wins with the chest but this guy is very easy to transform, even though I feel the copter mode is kind of stubby and a tad too simplistic. The chest tabbing into the side fillers is quite annoying but once you get it, this dude is very nice, even though I think he's a tad too tall which was my main gripe with Apache.

That might just be a perception for some. FT released their Apache in North America first, before Asia.

I just got mine yesterday. Should have a video up this weekend. Short version: He is good, solid, enjoyable transformation that isn’t ridiculous, could use a better solution for sword storage in car mode is my only real complaint.

I think there should be more die cast in the chest.

If I'm doing something wrong, please let me know.

My Saltus rests like this in copter mode:
    0510191938b.jpg

I'd like it to rest like this:
    0510191938a.jpg

More die cast in the chest would shift the center of gravity enough to allow it to rest how I'd like. But then I'm not sure what that would do to the balance of the bot.

Isn’t the chest entirely diecast? I’m not sure how much more could be added.

It is, and I'm not either. But after messing with it for a bit, it feels like that was the intent of the die cast chest, it didn't work like MMC wanted, so they said "eff it. We'll just just bill it as having more die cast." There were a lot of promotional shots leading up to the release showing the unpainted, die cast chest.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with the figure, I'm satisfied with all three modes, but I'm just that: satisfied. I was hoping for more after waiting nearly three years since it was first announced.

I see mine doing the same in copter mode, but not quite to the extreme as yours.

I could see the best way around would be some stabilisers folding out from the thighs.

Yeah, that would help. But it's sooooo close to resting with the props parallel to the ground on it's own.

Lead. Lead is the answer. The chest could've been made of lead. It's dense enough that the center of gravity/mass would shift far enough forward to allow it to rest with the prop parallel to the ground.

More metal wouldn't have solved it since the whole reason he tips back is the heaviest part of the toy; the thighs, being located at the rear.

No what he actually needed was a simple little flip out piece on his crotch to support the back. Or even some little flip out parts on his forearms to extend the length of the choppers landing support. Why he wasn't designed with either thing in mind I dunno, its a very bizarre oversight on an otherwise very smart design.

Isn't his landing gear just changing to car mode? :dunce

I'm waiting to pick this up soon, but I wish the chest intake grill area actually were large vents instead of faux vents. It's a minor thing and I don't think any of the 3rd party options do that (could be wrong) but I feel it is a missed opportunity...

It's a solution, but it's not an elegant solution. It feels like it should rest more forward than what it does.

But it is what it is, and I still enjoy it.

the tires fold behind the chest so detailing the chest any more wouldn't work for transformation.

Fair enough. Still, it would have looked awesome.

Try folding the bot-mode hipskirts down to support the helicopter upright.
