Actually, that's the DK-09 upgrade arm, which I modded with part of the original rubber blade, to make it longer. The upgrade blade slides in and out instead of folding. I left this modded blade a little longer than the original blade and modded the sliding function to extend further.

definitely want one of those in mpm scale. Imagine an mpm scaled devastator with individual bots based on their ss figures. And I would also want accurate *balls* on such a figure.

I’m liking Skids more than I expected. To be fair though, anything that scales with SS is an auto-plus point in my book.

That Nitro custom is dope. Do you have a thread for it in customs or anywhere? Been looking for a good example to base mine off of.

Got a Takara deluxe Rampage recently and once I had it in hand, realized it's not really for me. It's made in red plastic which is accurate but it lacks a detailed paint job that I could've done myself. The only cool thing about it is that it's shovel has painted detail to look like it has all the ridges. With that said, wasn't there someone here who said they wanted a Takara (red) Rampage a while back?

It's actually my SS Thundercracker turned into G2 Dreadwing via Toyhax, not sure if it really warrants its own thread but I might!

SS DOTM Megatron will definitely also get third party treatment. I think it already looks good, but imagine getting rid of the blocky parts on the arms and legs, getting articulated fingers and even upscaling him.

So, I've been messing with this guys the last few days since they arrived.

    20190510_093915.jpg

    20190510_093306.jpg 20190509_093638.jpg 20190510_092033.jpg 20190510_092039.jpg 20190510_092900.jpg 20190510_092914.jpg 20190510_092934.jpg 20190510_093231.jpg

What can I say? It's the first time I handle Masterpiece like figures, and some little things scared me a bit. They feel like a mix between action figure and display piece (or statue), having some limitations because of their complexity and accuracy effort. Because of that, in terms of playability and poseability, they are not as good as the SS figures. But, in terms of paint, sculpting and overall look... Well, they really are Masterpieces.

MPM Prime: It's a good figure, and Legendary Toys fixed the issues the original release had. About the mold, it is mostly an improved version of the old ROTF Leader figure, and, probably because of that, it didn't impress me much. About the paint, which is LT biggest selling point, it has an astonishing glossy look. However, there is no other grey tone to break the silver a little, and the overall sculpting of the figure, with some parts dragging on each other while moving it, scratch the paint a little. Cool ratchet joints, some nice features... A good figure.

    20190507_192324.jpg IMG-20190509-WA0012.jpeg IMG-20190509-WA0014.jpeg 20190510_093653.jpg 20190510_093744.jpg

MPM Ironhide: The first time I saw some photos and images of this guys, I thought: SS is better. SS handles better the arms/shoulders structures and has a better face sculpt. And, now with both in my hands: SS handles better the arms/shoulders structures and has a better face sculpt. But the MPM face sculpt now doesn't look too off (it's pretty good, actually) and, more important, the SS doesn't look like it has stepped out of the screen. The MPM does. It is bulky and imposing, has a lot of wonderful intricate details (Prime also has them) and a good mix of color variations (glossy black, opaque black, silver, grey, some gold bits...). The shoulders can be annoying and make posing the arms a difficult task. Transformation is trick (Prime was easy) and some tabs are REALLY tight, but I don't know if this just with my figure or if all the MP figures has this tightness.

    IMG-20190509-WA0021.jpeg

    20190510_092200.jpg 20190510_092216(0).jpg 20190510_092357.jpg 20190510_092410.jpg 20190510_092417.jpg 20190510_092454.jpg 20190510_092459.jpg

So, to summarize, they are wonderful display pieces and not-bad action figures, while SS are good action figures and not-bad display pieces. About scale, they work really well in bot and vehicle mode, and Prime's truck cab is higher than Ironhide's roof.

But I think I will stick with the SS.
