These numerous experiences illustrate that we are still kids at heart. I fondly recall opening G1 Gears, brought home by my mom in the fall 1984 as one of the best memories of my 44-year life. Opening a new Masterpiece G1 figure is one of the few joys in life that recreates that experience. The Bumblebee movie managed to return me to the more innocent world that many of us grew up in. Whether it be the enthralling background story, the wonderful voice actors, or the amazing designs, Transformers are unique. There is something very special about these small pieces of articulated plastic. And I am forever grateful for the resulting joy of being a kid at heart.

I remember when I was like, 5 I got a bayverse bumblebee figure that you have to push a little button on the top of the car and it would partially transform. I also got a ROTF Gears as well. I didn\'t really knew how to transform it so I would turn to my dad for help. I wasn\'t into the movies at first and was more of a power rangers fan at that point in time. 8 years later, I am a full addict. I finally got my first masterpiece figure, which was MPM Barricade. Seeing the first transformers movie in 2007 was awesome, even tho I had to wait a couple years till I could actually see it, since I was only two years when it came out. Nevertheless engaging in transformers was the best thing that had happened to me. I don\'t care if other kids in high school harass me, when you\'re a die-hard fan, you don\'t change. Like Emgo316 says, be a geek, be proud. Now transform and roll out!

Several good memories with the franchise. I remember as a kid getting into Transformers, my brother saw a commercial for the 2007 video game and showed it to me. I was hooked the moment I got the game. Now, of course I had to have all the toys, so my mom took me to the store and I got Deep Desert Brawl. This guy was a fun one to start with. Huge with easy-to-move parts, what more could a kid ask for? It turned out that my uncle was a big fan as a kid in the 80s, so he introduced me to the original cartoon. I remember playing with the Transformers with my brother and mixing their stories with those of Star Wars and Pirates of the Caribbean, my other two obsessions at the time (and today). It was incredible. I'm truly grateful for the Transformers, and all the lessons they've taught me over the years. Patience, perseverance, and gratitude are definitely some. It's been a helluva run, and I'm ready for the next 35! 'Till all are one!

I was 5 in 1984 and even though now I would say those toys were not meant for 5 year olds, I actually handled them really well and despite losing accessories, I never broke them. Anyways, I was immediately drawn in by the cartoon, commercials, and catalogs. I would cut out the pictures of the figures and use those to play with. The toys themselves were expensive for the time, so they were like a status symbol at school. Kids would bring them to school to show off. Eventually I got Megatron and Jetfire and they were my main toy line until I became a teen and started losing interest.

Many, many years later when I graduated college, a time when Cybertron was around, I started buying figures again and here I am to this day, 14 years later, still buying them. In fact, in my last job, which I had for about two years, I would bring a different Transformer in each day and have a little show and tell with my office buddies.

The Transformer that impressed everyone the most? For some reason, probably Leader Class Animated Megatron.

I vividly remember me in 1984 being unaware of Transformers as I was only 3. Happy 35th birthday. Who would've thought I would still buy them at 38. I love Transformers.

What makes today specifically the anniversary? It says "today Transformers turns 35". Based on what exactly? Because I don't remember there being any one specific day anything happened. I was collecting Gobots at the time. And I somehow learned that a new line called Transformers was on it's way. But I can't remember exactly how I learned that. Then for the next few months I totally forgot about it. Then one day I was in Toys R Us & they had the seekers sitting there. In 1 random tiny space the next aisle over from where the Gobots were, they unloaded 1 case of seekers. It was nothing special, no specific date or anything. They just showed up & started to trickle into stores same as all the other toy lines. And then eventually the cartoon showed up. So what happened today exactly?

Oh never mind. It's right there on the front page, the comic anniversary. No wonder I missed it. I don't do comics. Comic books :puke:

According to TFWiki's This Day in History:
    • 1984 Marvel Comics' Transformers #1 hits newsstands (with a cover date of September). This was the very first Transformers product made available... so Happy Anniversary, Transformers!

One of my first transformers was human alliance Jazz. I was too young to see 2007 but I sure loved Rotf. By 10, I'd moved out of it for lego, seeing as it was harder to break them but when I met my 2nd Cousin and his Wife, his love of them brought me back into the hobby. While I may not be as old as most of the fans, I still love the franchise and I'm glad to be part of an age with such poseable figures.

Yeah, I didn't actually read the first line of the article. lol For me Transformers is all about the toy line. I never gave a rat's ass about the comic or cartoon. But I remember going apeshit over the 86 movie & seeing it 4 times in the theater. Oh well, whatever! I'm weird.

And the 86 movie got me into music. Never cared about music before then. But the movie soundtrack got me into rock & metal. Hunger & Instruments of Destruction blew me away.

You should read try a few of them, if just for recognizing the allusions newer works do. I still love Ratchet vs Megatron.

I turned against comic books. I collected & read the entire Dan Ketch Ghost Rider series plus all the crossovers & spin-off titles. Then they ruined it with new crap art & Howard the Duck. A few issues later it was cancelled. Now just hearing the words comic book makes me want to vomit. I actually had a few of the Transformers comics back in the 80's but I don't remember them. I mostly just looked at the pictures. lol

Holy scrap, it's Transformers Day! I didn't even realize it! Though I'm relatively new to being a fan of the brand, I'm glad that I got into it at such a historical time! Happy anniversary to this great franchise!

Ever since I was a very young kid, I've always had at least a passing interest in the Transformers. I recall watching reruns of Cybertron on Jetix, and owning the ROTF figures for Optimus and Cliffjumper, the latter of which I still own to this day. However, it wasn't until I got older and began watching Prime on Netflix, that I began to consider myself a Transformers fan. That was one of my favorite childhood shows, and became the basis from which the vast majority of my Transformers knowledge came from. For whatever reason though, I couldn't quite get into the rest of the franchise. I watched a bit of G1 and the first Bayformers, but neither was able to peak my interest the same way Prime did, despite me really enjoying them.

This didn't change until very recently, when the Bumblebee movie began to be marketed. The first trailer convinced me enough to check the film out, but then that second trailer with the Battle on Cybertron came around, and it was suddenly one of my most anticipated films for 2018. I watched it opening weekend, and it absolutely blew my mind. I loved it so much, that I started to dig deeper into Transformers, eventually starting a binge of the G1 cartoon, loving it, and as a result purchasing the Seige figures for Optimus and Megatron... the rest is personal history!

TFP was what got me hooked, although I remember a friend telling me about Animated, and watching DOTM.

I remember what made me part of collecting and loving transformers in general, when I was five, I wen to a famiy vacation ro Spain with my parents, and as we got unpacked, I specifically wanted to explore the city and on our way walking around,we found a very nice and large toy store. As we were exploring around the store, we went dwonstairs and there they were a large set of Rotf toys, and as we were going along I never saw the bay movies, and picked my first bot Gears which I enjoy him on the collection table to this day.
I never regret collecting Transformers and am always happy collecting them.

I remember going to see the 1986 movie at the "cheap theater" and my mom wouldn't take me at first. She was tired and didn't want to drive all across town to get me over there (my parents were divorced so she worked a lot to take care of me and my brother). She also didn't understand why her 14 or 15 year old son "still plays with toys" or could care about that "silly show".

Anyhow, I was GOING to see it and I was going to walk there. She broke down and drove me and said she'd be back in an hour and a half to pick me up. I remember getting my ticket and going in and it was pretty packed but I got a backrow close to the end of the aisle seat. The intro started and it was just the best thing ever....until Perceptor said "I fear the wounds are...fatal".

Wait...what!? Primes dying? This can't be happening...but it was. Prime was my hero and he was someone I always looked up to. He was a father figure and I knew great people were like he was and that's how great people should act. It's how I wanted to be when I got older. Now here I am at 14 or 15 years old watching a cartoon and trying not to look like "a dork" because I'm tearing up and crying because my childhood hero died. I remember very clearly looking over to the unknown guy sitting next to me....he had to be like 25 or something and hoping he hadn't noticed I was upset....and he was crying too! I didn't feel so dumb at that point but the memory sticks with me that I wasn't the only one who really felt strongly about the characters and the bonds I had somehow formed with each and every one of them along the way.

I've seen that movie so many times to this day I can probably sit down and write out the dialogue perfectly. My wife has watched it with me enough she can recite the Universal Greeting from memory "Bah weep grah nah weep nini bong!". None the less, I still find myself getting teary eyed every time Prime dies. You know that's a great character when it can still effect you like that when you're 47.

It's ironic that we're at 35 years already. It honestly seems like just yesterday. If I remember correctly, Windcharger was my very first one. I had a lot of fun playing with the toys as a kid and collecting them as I got older.

I've gotten out of collecting, and am going to be selling off the remainder of my collection this coming Monday, but it brought me a lot of joy over the years.
