I have to admit, they've stepped up their game this year. I've gotten pretty much all new releases through them, for Siege, so far. Never thought I'd say that...

They've been very bare in my area. Every other brand is crowding out Hasbro. Just because I might be buying Takara Siege out of spite doesn't mean I don't want to see Marvel Legends or Star Wars Black Series now and then.

We saw a huge step-down in the toy dept when KB closed, and I expect we'll see an even bigger one with TRU gone. With most of the competition gone, Walmart doesn't have to care about their toy section so much.

The Avengers movie appears to have crowded out a lot of the other franchises around here...as expected.

Once we enter the fog of summer where there's not quite the heavy hitters waiting in the wings (Toy Story and XMen really don't pull the same weight). But this Fall, I anticipate Star Wars taking up entire aisles again during Q4.

Where I'm at Toy Story 4 currently holds the title for taking the most space in the aisle, its awesome. Sadly meanwhile Transformers & Star Wars gets very little as we don't regularly keep stock like we do Marvel Legends, WWE (seriously wtf?), & Toy Story 4. But that's not as bad as DC who only gets three pegs, like forget about DC Multiverse we haven't sold those in over a year its all those overly simplified sh*t.

WWF is always well-stocked wherever I go. I couldn't tell you if it's a good selection or just the equivalent of ye olde (bumble)beehive though.

WWE actually sells extremely well versus most other toy brands, including Transformers, so it gets stocked accordingly.

DC Multiverse is now a dead toy line, with most stores only selling what remaining stock they have left as Mattel quietly watches their DC license expire.

You know, seeing these new G1 re-issues makes me wish they'd do the same with G.I. Joe – not the 25th anniversary stuff but the original 3.75" swivel-arm molds, picking from the 1983-1986 era (they wouldn't have to release all the characters, just cherry-pick the more popular ones). But, then, I don't know what the market is for military toys these days; it may not be worth the hassle for Hasbro.

It’s a neat idea but I am afraid GI Joe is dead. That was one of my favorite toy lines next to Star Wars and Transformers.

Leaving aside whether Joe is dead, it's hard to imagine that nostalgia for military figure reissues (specifically lacking the articulation that more modern figures possess) is even comparable to Transformers reissues.

That said, ReAction is a thing. While not reissues, at least some of those articulation-lacking figures must be selling (the fact that they seem to linger on shelves near me notwithstanding), or they wouldn't keep making more.

I'd like a factory fresh MISB 1986 Cobra Night Raven reissue.

Modern Transformers are also better articulated, way more posable and, I would argue, not as delicate; yet, here we are, pining for those beautiful "bricks". The parallels should be fairly apparent.

I think you're misreading what I said (re-reading what I said, the fault is mine, not yours, but allow me now to clarify). I fully acknowledge that modern TFs are better articulated (and all those other things you said) than reissues. The point is that I STILL think those reissues hold more intrinsic value than I can see reissues of Joe-type figures holding.

I could be wrong, but my point is that an 80's era TF is rather a different thing than an 80s era Joe.

Well honestly I'd like to see officially released G.I Joe figures released but from transformers. I know some company did that in making a Arcee,Ultra Magnu and Springer in the GI Joe body. They where very expensive so i was never able to get them but i would love to own them. I think it would be a cool idea if we ever got them. I just think that they might be a very niche and one off product to be sold. Then it could maybe lead into making G.I Joe again as a whole but who knows these days.

While those are nice personally I would like to have the iconic blue Cobra Rattler. Original style would be great but one with extra detail would be even better.

For what it's worth, 80's era swivel shoulder Joes have 10 points of articulation. That's not all that far from modern standards - and far above the budget 5-point line that was being shoveled out for Star Wars during the past two movies. I think there could be a market for GIJoe but it would need a new movie tie-in to get the nostalgia rising. And that window is beginning to close, IMO.

There's was talk about GIJoe getting a movie in the Hasbro shared cinematic universe. That pretty much collapsed after TLK. Bumblebee may restart talks about that but I think they missed the boat by not 100% ditching the Bayverse continuity. Sector 7 could easily have been replaced with GIJoe, Hailey could have had a Jem tape in her collection, there could have been a tag where ROM receives a transmission from Earth, etc. In fact, there's no reason Josie Beller shouldn't have been a Sector 7 soldier who gets injured during the final confrontation, setting up a future Circuit Breaker story arc.

Hasbro is still claiming there is another GI Joe movie coming, possibly/probably focused on Snake Eyes, at least in title, for 2020.
There won't be new figures until then.

Well they could have and maybe still can do a lot of that with the sequel. Except Circuit Breaker, she is owned by Marvel and as a character is stuck solely now in fiction limbo and is unlikely to ever be used again.
