I've felt that way too and then Season 7 was a vast improvement over 5 and 6, so I thought maybe they had gotten their shit togther. Nope, clearly not.

Technically they explained as the North isn't cool with it, but tbt they would get over if this were a realistic scenrio based on their world.

Though I do agree that Jon's northern morality came into play, but I highly doubt the Northern isn't without their fair share of bloodline marriages.

I felt bad for Tormund. Dude had such a sad, lost puppy dog look on his face when he finally took the hint and realized that Brienne would never go for him, forcing him to give up on her.

Same with Gendry. I mean, it was great to see the show address his status as Robert's bastard son and Dany legitimizing him as the new Lord of House Baratheon and Storm's End (even if it was a calculated strategic maneuver on her part). Arya rebuffing his marriage proposal was totally expected and in-character but I still felt for the guy.

Both men wore their hearts on their sleeves and got turned down by the women of their dreams.

The rest of the episode... can't say I'm thrilled by the apparent direction that they're going with. Rhaegal and Missandei's deaths were unexpected (pulled a rope-a-dope with Grey Worm) and I suspect Dany will go full Mad Targaryen before long (prompting Jon to have to put her down).

Oh, Jon, you really are Ned's son. Can't keep your damn honorable trap shut.

Holy fucking shit this episode was awful. Had some good moments in the first half but then shit like the sniper crossbows, somehow managing to capture Missandei (while not going for any of the easy to pick off stranded survivors???), Jon not saying farewell to his fucking DOG, Daeny somehow not spotting ships despite her having miles of vision thanks to her altitude, Cersei not just cutting down all of her major enemies in one go (remember when she blew up a cathedral?)...

I've seen this pass by multiple times today, and yeah, it's super fucking accurate. Steve Drew on Twitter

I thought the knighting scene in the second episode was a good conclusion to the Jaime / Brienne relationship. To be crude, them sleeping together played out as an unnecessary drunken pity f***, at no time prior has Jaime given the impression he's interested in Brienne in that way, and it renders Brienne's motivations throughout as just being libido driven. Weird writing.

The showrunners explained that away by claiming Team Dany had forgotten about Euron and his Iron Fleet. How they could forget the man who wiped out and captured key strategic allies, decimated their fleet at Lannisport and transported 20,000 mercenary troops to KL is a hard sell - especially as he was mentioned by Varys during the very same episode's war cabinet scene.

As for Jon, he enjoys banter about breaking sacred oaths but an avunculate loving relationship / marriage that would unite the realm is taboo. Weird writing.

I think I’m the only one that loves Euron. Hope he wins.

I wouldn’t support any king that doesn’t even take five seconds to say goodbye to his puppy. Down with Jon.

It’s very confusing how they could absolutely nail the knighting scene. It was the perfect culmination of Brienne’s character development, only to spin around an trash it in mere hours making her a pathetic weeping mess.

The Arya scene with Gendry was excellent in the last episode but now I am concerned the series is going to end like some half-assed John Hughes movie with Arya coyly walking out in some pink dress to Simple Minds and say, “Gendry I always wanted to be a Lady.”

I like Euron because he's such a pure, unfiltered Hate Magnet. I love that he's so hateable. I would hate-date him. I would invite him to parties, just so that I could glare at him and say snide/sarcastic comments to his face and he would smile, not understand I was throwing shade at him and say something super cocky in return. I would not feel bad poisoning him with laxatives. I would use blood magic to force Euron into a Groundhog's Day scenario that he wouldn't be able to escape until he learned to be a good person. And then I would take Good Euron and force him to spend a long sea voyage with Bad Euron and see who kills who first.

So when Brienne's squire drank was that bookending when those girls returned tyrian's money seasons ago? I guess he misread that situation.

Which season was it Cersei blew up the Westro-Pope, and didn't get strung up by the VERY religious small folks?

Stone throwing artillery is not accurate. Ballistias are as accurate as a bow, if shooting an arrow like projectile. And could pick a dude off the deck of Dany's ships, let alone the whole ship. Also polybolas, aka ballista with a magazine on top that feeds in bolts and is capable of automatic fire via hand cranks. Now the rate of fire on a polybolas is not super fast, but half a dozen all on one target, that'll get you the result in this episode. They also came in sizes capable of launching a 3 talent (78 kg) projectile. Granted that was probably stone shot, BUT the point is the size of them is not ridiculous.

Looks like all the hype-coke finally went to their heads and they are no longer able to wrap up the story in a remotely coherent way.

Had my gripes with previous seasons (which season was it where everyone was just kind of meandering through Westeros - endlessly walking? And I definitely noticed a dip when they ran out of ‘book’, despite having never read those), but this episode takes the cake. Disliked episode 3, outright hate episode 4 and I’m genuinely at the point where I don’t even care about watching the final two episodes.

They didn’t drop the ball, they outright obliterated it just so they could snort up its powdered remains. And I’ll leave it at that because I don’t want to sour other people’s enjoyment for these lasts bits. Time to bash on Sonic, see you in other threads people! :)

I think Brienne's takeaway lesson is, don't sleep with your heroes?

Jaime was always damaged goods, and never a good man like Brienne and us the audience would like to believe. Everyone's morally gray, never black or white. More to the point, the guy is addicted to Cersei and self-hating as he always was. Really hope he ends the circle of loathing one way or another.

Bronn, such a weird scene that was. Not sure how he snuck into Winterfell with that big crossbow even if most everyone was drinking and/or drunk in celebration (posted gate guards shouldn't have been). I know he was always a mercenary and even resentful for how one-sided his alliances with Tyrion and Jaime were in the past, but him being so aggressively/stupidly greedy there was over the top ham fisted.

He's not wrong that the strongest cutthroats make the rules but the execution of that interaction felt off to me. Double the price of Harrenhal should've been the Twins (with the Freys gone, that would've been easier to ask for). Asking for the Reach was a WTH moment for me out of quite a few WTH moments this ep.
