Now that's what he should've looked like out of the box! Would've been nice if Hasbro had actually painted him. Added some paint details to mine too, but clearly I need to add more; that looks fantastic.

Tempted by this kit, but seems silly that the upgrade should cost more than the actual figure (got mine on sale here in Canada).

And yeah, the Studio Series figure is way better than the MPM, ironically.

 

Yes he is awesome, the best SS figure out of all of them imo. A little paint here and there and he is amazing. Even the bumper stopped bothering me. . Now that i have messed with him i think i can live without the dna kit for now....

Got my kit today. It makes a good toy exceptional. The way the bumper folds under the tires feels like it was meant to be that way in the first place, and the feet are just like the originals but actually functional - it's like an upgrade done by Hasbro themselves, like they were fixing their cheap mistakes and going back to the way the toy was designed to be in the first place.

I'm not an accessory guy, but I even like the guns and how they work with him and store in bot mode. The tower of combined guns in truck mode is a little rediculous, but what can you do.

 

Got mine in on Saturday. Took less than 10 minutes to install. Two screws in each leg, swap the feet, replace the screwed in parts and then hammer out the pin (nice tool they included, will be using that again) and swap the bumper.

I couldn't believe how quick it was.

The robot mode looks GREAT! The vehicle mode suffers. The tailgate does not want to close up properly and leaves an unsightly gap at times. (You really have to massage the pieces back together.)

Worth the money? I'd say so. For sure.

The bed is forced to poke upward a bit at the tail and you can see the gap. When using the Hasbro feet, neither of those happen.

That gap is best case scenario, btw. If you don't massage the parts, there's a perfect split right down the center.

 

Mine should be here tomorrow or tueTues depending on the post office. Very excited for it.

Thanks for the pics! Doesn’t look too bad. Not something I’d cancel an order over but not ideal either. All the weapons piled on the bed looks silly as hell but also sort of fitting for Ironhide. It would have been really cool if they had found a way to attach them underneath the alt mode.

Got my kit in today and it's great!

Installation was a bit harder then I had anticipated. Even with the tool the bumper pin didn't want to budge. Nothing some channel locks couldn't handle though! Getting the new bumper lined up is a bit of trial and error too but didn't take too long. The bumper folds up nice and cleanly.

The feet are pretty easy as long as your not a dummy and don't strip one of the screws. But other then that they went together really well. Ankle tilt works nicely. I do have the same issue where the back won't peg together quite as well as before, and there are some gap in the bed, but they aren't enough to really bother me.

Vehicle mode looks really sharp now. I really appreciate that they did the folding toes to get rid of his feet in alt mode. That bugged me to know end. The new back wheels don't roll very nicely as I think they are catching on something. Might need to shave a bit of plastic off somewhere.

The weapons are fun but not needed for the most part, unless you're looking for a DOTM Ironhide. I personally prefer the cannons. The knives are fun though, and the weapon storage in bot mode is well thought out.

All in all a very good upgrade I'd say. Is it worth the money? It depends on how much you enjoy Ironhide. He's my favourite movie bot so for me it was a no brainer.
