The designer actually said he copied mp-44 head. Thanks to the magazine provided detailed sketch.

 

Yeah, I took it he copied that Mp-44, the new head shares no cues with the original 1st run, it shared too many design cues with MP44

 

This I could believe (as opposed to copying based on the stock photos or designing from scratch based on the Movie directly).

 

cool....still would not call it stolen though. To me that would imply that the CAD files were stolen...which I doubt that they were. But whaddaIknow?

 

why Tho? What would be so hard about doing it that way? I know that that is how I would do it if I had any 3D modeling skill.

 

Mostly because I think they would have done it that way the first time then. Obviously I can't say for sure! But it seems unlikely to me based on the aesthetic of the first head and the overall body, the timing of the new head's release relative to the Generations book diagrams, and the (almost   ) exact resemblance to 44's head.

 

That's how he did it with the 1st head and the result was not ideal. Translating drawing to 3d model is always a challenge.


If you like 44, you should get TE to experience the head design.  

 

I dunno....I am rather fond of the first headsculpt. It was just painted the wrong color.

it's a lot improvement , but there are lots of things that make me really not happy , and cant wait for 44
For example : the antenna have darker color than the head , the mouthplate is tad longer , and I don't like that the eyeball piece is protrude out of the eyesocket , compare to MP-44 design artwork. You can see the eye on 44 stay inward , not outward.

 

I do wonder now about canceling it and waiting to see what variations they come up with. The point of all this was never the cartoon for me.

Oh God. Just typed in the Siege appreciation thread about how that line is making me reconsider my MP44 pre-order.

I promised myself that MP44 would be my only major TF's purchase this year. Then Siege came along and that promise has long gone out if the window.

 

I was wondering how those 3P heads improved.
