    Split - 7.5/10

Thought it was suspenseful and entertaining, just drags with those "therapy sessions" (translation: pure exposition) plus no real closure for either main characters because of the set-up to Glass. To those who've seen Glass: is it worth it just for the conclusion despite the bad reviews, or would I be wasting my time?

While the trend is to pile on M. Night Shyamalan, truth be told he is a more than competent director. The main problem is once upon a time he did The Big Twist making what was/still is his biggest hit, so he felt that was the secret ingredient. Imagine a terrific chef who's praised for creating a dish with an added twist, then tries to replicate that success in the same manner every single time. Like grilling a great tasting steak then topping it off with a Snickers bar.
Luckily I've been very selective about his catalogue. Along with Split I've only also seen Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, and Signs. While at times frustrating, genuinely found all of them to be enjoyable...yes, even Signs with it's laundry list of flaws.

    Avengers: Endgame - 7.5 / 10

The movie might be like a block of Swiss cheese, but I'll be damned if it isn't a tasty block of Swiss cheese! On my initial viewing, I would've given this a 6.5 / 10 due to the inability to overlook certain issues, but on my 2nd viewing I found myself enjoying/appreciating the surrounding elements so much more (due to me not being caught up on certain problems), so I had to bump up the score by a point. It was one of the most enjoyable movies for me personally. I'd love to give this movie a 9 / 10, but I know that would be too biased of an opinion, and I'm just trying to be a little more objective here.

That being said, I don't think people who aren't die hard MCU fans would enjoy the movie as much. Because of that, I'd say infinity war is the better movie out of the two, as a more casual/general audience is likely to enjoy that movie more than endgame. This movie is a dedicated love letter to it's die-hard fans from over the years, so it will be hit or miss for some people.

If you've been following the mcu for a long time, and consider yourself to be somewhat akin to that of a 'huge fan', absolutely go and see this one! If you're unfamiliar with the majority of elements in the mcu, or have only seen 1 or 2 films prior to this, I don't think I can recommend this though.

I agree with this take. As usual, people go a bit overboard when rating movies, based on their own emotions and fandom. This was about a 7.5 for me. It was too long, the first 40 mins or so, I was actually bored. I loved fat Thor though. I may be him for Halloween this year lol.

Absolutely loved it. It's perhaps the most "comic book" comic book film and you're either going to be fine with it or you're not. I personally only have one issue with the film
and that was how they didn't really explain Bruce's transformation into Professor Hulk all that well. That said... since it takes place during the five year time skip... maybe there's a potential movie/tv series for the future?

There's been rumors lately of a Hulk/She-Hulk show probably in development for Disney+. Might fit the bill there if they turn out to be accurate.

Nail hit on the head my man. This was very good, but IW was better. I'd rate it a bit higher at 8-8.5, but you are right. I did love a lot of the people brought back from previous movies. Even if it is for 1-2 scenes at most. Just so awesome for those call backs. Really helped make the world of MCU feel awesome. It would be like several years from now DC doing a JL with Shazam and such and brining in Santa for a cameo.

Really late to seeing this but better late then never. It's easy to see why this is becoming quite a favorite for this year. :)

    Endgame: WaaaaaayTooFreakingLong/10

This movie was good. Not great, but good. In a couple moments, it was very good. But nowhere near as good a movie as Infinity War.

I'm willing to forgive this movie being less good, because it had to serve the dual purposes of not only telling its own story, but acting as a cap to everything that's gone so far. And at no point was the movie horrible.

But probably the thing that surprised me the most was
    the Jim Starlin cameo
. Kudos to Marvel for doing that. It's kind of overdue.

I finally got to see Batman 1989 in a theater today. 9/10

There was some new music and sound effects though...

Edit: scratch that new music part, just the sounds.

In honour the passing of Peter Mayhew, a marathon of the original trilogy Star Wars

    A New Hope - 8/10
    Empire Strikes Back - 9/10
Return of the Jedi - 8/10

    Overall - 10/10

They're iconic movies for a reason, all great with different strengths and weaknesses but as an overall package, sublime. And at Christmas I shall run said marathon again, and this time sequel trilogy will be included

I watched the Karate Kid movies last summer, and I enjoyed the first one and the remake. I recall enjoying the sequels, but I can't say I remember what happened in them. I still need to watch The Next Karate Kid. Heck, I might just go ahead and do it this week, before I forget again, or before I get busy with summer college work...

I did an Aussie crime double feature.

    Dirty Deeds - 9/10
A very good (and rare) 1960's period piece about gangsters in Sydney. Bryan Brown is the head honcho and gives the most intense performance. Sam Worthington acquits himself well as a young Vietnam veteran, Sam Neil is underused but still excellent as a corrupt detective on Brown's payroll. MVP is John Goodman as a visiting American mafioso looking to break into the Australian gambling market.

    Gettin' Square - 10/10

This is the better of the two movies, but only just. This one lacks the presence of big actors (depending on one's feelings for David Wenham or Timothy Spall) but subsequently has more grit to it, plus its better at balancing comedy and drama. Sam Worthington is this one two, also the main protagonist which leads me to believe based on his Aussie work against U.S. work that he has good chops for the classical Australian larrikin with some depths to him, but he cannot really convincingly play the sort of leading man expected of American audiences.

    A Quiet Place - 5/10

Interesting premise and interesting monsters ruined by a focus on an annoyingly stupid family
