Sad FT is making breakdown Snow White.

Painting cartoon cells they had limited colors, white was easy to do. The beige they had to custom mix it each time, it was rarely the same.

 

But Snow White is pretty!

 

I'm willing to assume that Fans Toys has been quietly studying what other 3P's like Zeta have been doing with their combiners and finding ways to make the combination methods better. And I have to admit that the more I see pictures and video reviews of Roadking, the more optimistic I get with Fans Toys. Their last few releases have not thrilled me much to say the least. And even though I still feel the cars are too big in their bot modes, at least the car modes are in scale. At least to me. And there are a lot more good things going for this combiner than there is for me to nitpick about. Overall, I really like what I've been seeing and reading. And if their Superion jets are just as good, I'll definitely be in on them as well. I think I can easily live with the parts forming based on your response.

I have the same suspicion. Now if only DX9 at least reissued their little Grimlock...

Transformation is great actually, there are a fair few steps but it flows really well and is intuitive for the most part. The only thing i would say is the instructions are unhelpful sometimes, and its better to concentrate on the top of the bot/trailer 1st and then do the legs.

Here's a real quick one

 

The Zeta Aerialbots in individual bot mode are more like a bad KO... compared to anything FT... sometimes a really bad KO built on a Friday at closing time in the factory. The tolerances depending on the Zeta Kronos set you get, can be horrible and near unusable.

 

I know that dalianjj said the combiner parts are coming with the limbbots, but what I’m curious to see is what the actual split will be. Could it be that Spoiler is only at $105 because he only comes with 1 or 2 of the feet? And maybe Magnum comes with the hands, keeping him around the same price? Then the arm-bots get pricier, one coming with the lower torso and legs, the other with the upper torso and arms — pushing the price up around $140 ea.

Obviously this is pure conjecture, and without knowing the actual way they’re splitting the Menasor body up it’ll be difficult to really say, but thought I’d throw that out there. For all we know the combiner parts are an even 25% of the body split. One gets both legs and feet, another gets arms and hands, then upper torso/lower torsos. Will certainly be interesting to see!

 

The colors aren’t exact
The black is supposed to be a dark purple and the grey outline and his head are meant to be a lighter purple color
His face also needs to be a bit brighter

 

I'm not sure slavish accuracy is my thing, there has to be some give for what looks good outside of animation. I didn't start collecting MP's because I'm a 'toon guy, I was always into the comics more (though loved the cartoon when I could find it). The comics were even more varied design-wise than the cartoon inconsistencies which drive us all nuts, so it's really the essence of the character I'm looking for. In that sense I think this nails it.

That’s just the necessity of animation. Going by that logic, Tony Stark’s hair should be blue.

The details on Motormaster’s chest are black lines on a black surface. One of them has to be lighter. There has to be a highlight. If it were the lines, people would argue that he should have gray or purple pinstripes.

The gray around his head was literally meant to be the gray trailer around his head on the toy.

Edit: Also, the purple added to his chest panels could also be playing with the grays:/

 

Well, I just caved and ordered Roadking. As much as I wish he was a bit closer to MP-10 in height, the damn thing just looks too good. I guess that means I'm in for FT's Menasor now, even though I'm two bots into XTB's. To be fair, while I like XTB making their limb bots carbot height, they have made a few decisions I wasn't completely into, namely their Breakdown's color and their Wildrider's chest being so flat.

 

My Roadking is en route from Showz and has left the airport from Pudong. One down and a few others to order from Showz!

I'm surprised that no one has figured out the combine mode configuration. I know Paik did a quick "maybe this" but unless all the locking and stability is in the combiner shell, I would have thought that somebody would have piece it together by now.

 

Just contacted the seller I pre-ordered from and they state they have this figure in stock, but have been ordered by Fans Toys that they can not release it/ship it until other Chinese distributors receive their stock. That is BS...

 

So some pics have his should hinges flush with the torso, and some photos have his hinges extruded a bit to allow for a butterfly joint. Curious what the “correct” position is supposed to be.

Pulling them out lets you use the hinge to get a butterfly joint
