I'm not defending them, but there's nothing "shady" about it. You have the choice whether to buy them or not, like any other store. It would be "shady" if they magically found the major high ticket items like a Megatron/Waspinator 2-pack sealed or a complete set of the last two subscription runs.
Yeah, this is the stuff that hung on for a long time in the last sale anyways. That Machine Wars set was there forever and I still missed it somehow when it got into a comfortable price range.
Does anyone have a list of the actual TF Toys for sale? Because those posters definitely LOOK like they're selling you the toys, since its the same display setup they used to use. And I bet there's no refunds if someone pays $150 for a poster because they were rushing to buy before a sellout...
Why? Who's forcing anyone to buy it? People collect this kind of stuff, too. So hey, if it doesn't float your boat don't buy it.
Also just to add that they updated their descriptions to be very clear that the advertising items do NOT include the items. Still not for me but I could totally see some people being very interested in this.
Definitely a unique thing to own... I'm kind of interested in the 2012 Kick-Off poster, but the most I'd pay is like $10...
^ It makes you wonder is there any crazed Botcon fan out there that are going to pick these up to complete their authentic recreation of their favorite Botcon convention?
Crazy is a term only used by those that are not stable in their own state of mind. I've never heard someone defined as crazy describe themselves as that. While the ad's are mostly uninteresting to me, I did grab vintage GiG ads from Italy for my collection so someone will want them, for the right price... Pin collectors may want yet another cause...fingerprints
I'm gonna have to call bullshit on this. Simple fact, everyone on the fucking planet is crazy in some way or another. Noone would recognize a fully normal person because they'd think they were crazy. It's just a fact of life.
They have a couple of the Botcon customization class kits for sale right now (Arcee, Overkill, Thunderclash, & Rumble/Inferno).
It looks like the actual TF toys start around the last four pages. There's nothing they are offering that I don't already own, though. But if you missed out on the Most Wanted or Machine Wars sets, looks like some folks will get a second chance
If they are I have a spare set of each for half what they're charging. Keep meaning to list them, thought I'd have more room in new house.
yeah, I want that Machine Wars set, just for Stryka and Obsidian, but don't want to pay more than $100 for the whole thing either... 275 is insane still... I know they know what Botcon stuff has gone up in value, so it's pretty shitty for them to pretend to not know what's gone down in value.
I'm certain this is all spiraling towards a similar gradual fire sale that the TF Club went through. I wouldn't be surprised if the Botcon sets eventually hit around $100-150 before selling out.
