Did they add ratchets in a later release? I don’t remember this being an issue at all in mine

Has anyone tried touching up the paint on the Front Lip Spoiler? I got some scratches one mine that I'd like to touch up.

Thanks, I appreciate it. This guy was my first pin removal, and it took way more force than I was comfortable with. Haven't painted yet but didn't want to run into problems with re-assembly.

I hear heating the pin can make it come out more easily. By the time I learned this, I had already removed all the pins I was working on and I haven't done any more pin removal since then. You heat it with a soldering iron but you want to be careful not to overdo it and not to touch the plastic with the iron.

I too will remove the ratchets. Just ordered brass punches and a little hammer from Amazon. Recently, I began playing with my old MP styled car bots and Downbeat still is one of my favorites but that ratchet still haunts me as it did years ago. It ends in two days! I'll spend some time reading the backlog but I don't foresee any need to worry... or is there?

It was very easy to do but I got that pesky ratchet out. It can be reverted back as well. The joint is rather floppy without the ratchet so I'll be reinforcing it with floor wax to see if that helps. All in all so far I'm happy.

I have the first release and it has ratchets. The first position is pretty wide, although not super wide. Not an issue the way I have him posed, but I can see how it could be.

I put the ratchets back in. There is no way to make enough pressure for the hips to not be floppy. Maybe if I replace the pins for screws, I can create friction but for now, back to normal... sigh...

It may have something to do with using my dinner plate sized repro-Autobrand to cover the empty crest, but
I'm gonna look into getting the Reprolabels upgrade for this. After building that Taisan 911GT2, I'm more interested in seeing it in Martini Rossi stripes.

It certainly is a good alternative to what doesn't exist from Takara Hasbro.. I like J4ZZ, but this really captures the character.

Finally got myself one of these after umming and ahhing over it for months, what pushed me over the edge was visit a friend who had one and seeing it in person..wow. Well I have mine and I'd really impressed! A have few niggles here and there(as per usual) but overall the transformation is intuitive, the figure feels solid and he poses brilliantly. I honestly don't see much TT could do better and more likely then not if and when theirs happens it will be a tad too toon styled for me. So that's it, the MP Jazz shaped hole in my collection is now filled.

Yep. High time I get mine out of the box, too. I've been too swept up in the TFTM 3P MP these past few weeks.

Anyone want to customize the shit of mine? I’d pay $100 for the effort, although I’m sure the offer would only appeal to those who mod shit for fun anyways ... I’m desperate for white thighs/silver feet/Ocean labels or some decals similarly substantial but I know I wouldn’t be able to pull it off ... (had my dominant hand smashed in an industrial accident in my twenties and it’s never been the same with regards to delicate/precise work unfortunately ...)

I used to get a lot of requests for my decal sheet and the site I was uploading to would only host it for 30 days at a time. While I was adapting the decals to fit Newage Manero (legends Jazz) I discovered that I could upload it to mega for a semi-permanent link. Here it is for anybody who's interested.

And a reminder what he looks like with the decals (alongside Manero)

What I did was sand down the little piece thats attached to the spring. The piece that catches the ratchet teeth. I blunted down the tip a bit so it can kind of fit between the ratchets if you know what I mean. It was a lot of trial and error. I overdid it the first time and ruined my original pair so please try at your own risk. I ended up asking MMC for another pair.

I got a question for you. How did you pop out the pin at the knee? It is a strange hollow pin. I removed the ratchet by the thigh just punching out the upper thigh pin, but I damaged the upper thigh because of the pin didn’t quite have enough clearance to come out cleanly. I figure it would be a lot easier if the knee pin came out first.

You mean like turning one tooth into two teeth? That is a very good idea and I bet would require quite the skillful hand. The teeth aren't triangles but rather more like gears so there is very little material to work with.

I don't work on the pin with the knee joint. The ratchet spring is inside of a cavity inside the hip joint. The pin comes off actually very easily as long as you punch it out the correct side. It has to show the gnarled end on the other side. Maybe that's why you were having trouble.

If I had another go at it, I would actually fill the grooves of the teeth with putty and start with a rounded surface and then carve in sharp teeth much closer together.

Not the teeth on the gear. I mean the small gray part with the spring attached. The tip of it goes between the wheel with the teeth. I sanded the tip down a bit. Sorry, I didn’t take pics.
