Double post from me as some nice post just arrived.

    Eleganza extravaganza!

Old Flame here is the last 'bot on my G1 'to get' list. I've said that before, but this feels like 'it' this time.

Over the last couple of years I've gone back and got the bots I didn't think I'd 'need', like Reflector, Gnaw, Punch/Counterpunch and the clones. I got myself a rare tasty treat with Starsaber. But now what's left?

Plenty, I guess; from all the JG1 stuff (which I really don't feel like spending the requisite £$£$ on. too much buck for too little bang), to all the post '89 Micromasters, Pretender vehicles/classics/ultra/mega's that aren't Thunderwing but...I've got no real feel (or space on my shelf) for any of that.

So, to you Flame, and a 'complete' collection. Gonna have such a Brainmaster party tonight!

I don't know if I posted this story before, but...

When I got the G1 Skyhammer, the first thing I did was take a dremel and a file, disassembled him and filed down his gold plastic parts at points of friction to make them less tight and thus less prone to breaking. While that operation went pretty well (although his other foot is way more loose than the other), I reassembled his other leg slightly crooked which resulted in paint being scraped off his other thigh, much to my chagrin. Even though this area wouldn't normally be visible (it's in the back in human mode and hidden in vehicle mode), and I did readjust the leg to prevent more damage, the exposed plastic bothered me enough to motivate my more creative, albeit less competent half to try and fix it myself. And since I only had a selection of acrylic paints, I had to mix my own colour to match the existing paint.

The first attempt was an absolute disaster, the paintjob was too dark and when I attempted to give it a second coat to make it lighter, I used far too much thinner which not only washed away the old paint, but ended up scrubbing off even more of the original, which left me with no choice but to do the whole thing all over again, but this time I think I got the colour about right...

    DSCN1765.JPG

It does seem a little bit blue compared to the original paint, which is a bit odd since I only mixed white and dark grey.

Oh, you mean the totally legit, 100% cannon character 'Big Motorvator'?

Really fucking messy, would be my answer.

Best character/worst toy representation of a character! I'll always love you Ratchet!

I have Triggerhappy and he's in a wonderful condition but I'm sorely missing the Blowpipe.

Not a Blowpipe tho. In an act of desperation, I bought the Siege version to fill in until I can get one in a comfortable price range. But for now, he'll at least look a little less...well, naked?

At least he can stop borrowing Galvatron's gun.
