The character wasn’t originally created for kids And after the 60s, DC comics people like O’Neill and Adams Tried their hardest to bring Batman back to his original interpretation Most fans think they succeeded I’m guessing you’re rather young These films were wildly popular with kids and their parents
I think good scares are healthy for kids once in a while. I was 8 when I saw Batman and loved that scene.
Oh, parents used to take their kids to this kind of shit all the time. Hell, they even marketed this stuff to kids. Remember Aliens 3? Robocop? Rambo? Yea, even Conan was marketed towards kids. And, I am not just talking about the cartoons. I'm talking toys and all. And we totally went to see them as well. Nightmares? no, kids actually love this kind of stuff. It's the parents that hate it.
The only scene I had an issue with is the Penguin eating a raw fish with blood running down his face. Even as an adult I still tend to skip that scene.
I adore both of these movies. I probably watched 89 Batman everyday for about 2 years. I remember getting the VHS for Christmas and freaking out lol. I was 6 when I first saw it and I turned out fine. As a kid I didn't like Returns as much but had a new appreciation for it as an adult. It's a really tragic movie.
Which is WHY it was PG-13. Heavy emphasis on the 13 part. Parents still took their kids tho. Kids were tougher back then and could handle it.
This is still my favourite of all the Batmobiles. I still enjoy seeing this movie, and there are some of Joker's scenes that crack me up, no matter how many times I see them. Is it a flawless Batman movie? No. Is it a great Batman movie? Perhaps debateable. Is it a great movie? Yes. And now I wanna watch it again.
. As apposed to, let’s say.......Causing an entire Mansion full of ninjas to explode and burn down alla Batman begins Or as apposed to any thing Ben Affleck is done and the suit........ Well not that guy with that bomb seems to be a non issue in comparison
Heck kids can handle violent action flicks. Kids even watch DINOSAUR flicks. Violent and Dangerous reptiles yet Kids are loving them. Kids can handle such movie
Remember when that guy got eaten by two T-Rexs in JP2? Yea, saw that as a kid, and loved it. We totally loved that stuff as kids.
Furst was a wonderfully talented artist, seen not just in his work in Batman but in other features too: The Company of Wolves, Full Metal Jacket, Awakenings. And I think it's a terrible shame that such a talented artist and designer, who contributed more to this film's success than anyone else besides Burton and Keaton and Nicholson, commits suicide.
Classic Batman Films Returning to Theaters in May Fathom Events often organizes theatrical re-releases of older movies and television specials. Now, the organization will be bringing the old-school Batman films, Batman, Batman Returns, Batman Forever and Batman and Robin, back to the big screen. The films will be screened in 4K on the following days: Batman will air May 4, Batman Returns on May 6, Batman Forever on May 12 and Batman and Robin on May 14.
Not quite understanding everything here but didn’t the league of shadows burn down (not blow up) Wayne manor in Begins? Or is there something else I’m forgetting? As far as Affleck Batman there’s been tons of complaints about what he’s done and specifically about how much he uses guns. That was the main reason for me mentioning the bomb guy really.
Yeah, you're forgetting the first half of the movie. Bruce Wayne refuses to execute a corrupt police officer, instead choosing to blow up a mountain base and kill a bunch of the people he'd been training with for however many months/years. More of the fuzzy logic/morals he shows later in the movie when he says he won't kill Ra's, although he engineered the train derailment that would kill him. Nolan's Batman is more interested in semantics than the actual sanctity of life. Burton's Batman is at least more honest in that, like the original Golden Age version of the character, he simply doesn't have that rule.
Hard to believe the 1989 movie is 30! i remember like it was yesterday when it first came out when i was 7, a year prior to that i keep hearing about this movie in magazines like comicscene and Starlog and couldn't wait for the movie, i was more into Superman and Swamp Thing before this movie but i got interested in the movie and i remember seeing the teaser in theaters and couldn't wait. I saw it 4 times in theaters and had merchandise even ate the cereal to having a lunchbox! i also remembered getting the VHS for christmas and the CD soundtrack. Seeing it again on the big screen is a treat!
I remember getting the toys that Christmas, including the Batmobile. So I rearranged the empty boxes from opened gifts into a stand in for Axis Chemicals and recreated the Batmobile shooting everything up scene.
