Want to check interest in an Illinois meet-up this Spring or Summer. It would be an opportunity for collectors to meet, socialize, buy, sell, and trade.
    • Town?
    • Venue?
    • Month?
    • Day?
    • Day of week: a Saturday?
    • Time: late morning or early afternoon for about 4 hours?
What are others' thoughts? I'm in the NW burbs of Chicago but have flexibility on location.

I’m down for almost anything. I have a lot of stuff I’m trying to shell out, so this would be a great opportunity.

How many items do you think you would try to bring for sales or trades?
I'd have about 12 items in one storage tub.

Depending on when or where I might be interested. The only issue i foresee is that you have a lot of sellers but who are the buyers? Similar issue when I hosted a get together at my house in Palatine a few years back, everyone had a great time hanging out and meeting eachother but the guys that brought stuff to sell didn't really have any luck. Also, generally when you're thinning out the collection it's not typically desirable stuff. This is exactly why I take advantage of the cheap tables at Dairycon.

I would be will to buy something, if it’s something I don’t see very often and/or within my price range. I’m just trying to sell stuff because I’ve ran out of room. Otherwise I’m probably gonna have to sell to a local shop. Within the next couple of weeks.

That's a very good point. I guess if this happens we'd have to have the expectation that sales might be a little thin, and maybe people shouldn't bring truckloads of figures. :)  Also, if it happens we can always put an advert in the Illinois, Wisconsin, and Indiana Sightings threads - depending on where we potentially would meet up.

I have a bunch of combiner wars, titans return, and potp bots to sell. Only collecting masterpiece and 3rd party masterpiece bots now. It would be good to advertise on social media groups and on offer up to get possible buyers to show up. I'm part of chitown hunters on FB that has 261 local IL members that I could let know.

Count me in. I have plenty of stuff that I can offload to but I am always open to trades. As far as the actual meet up, please see my answers below.

    • Town? NW Burbs works for me. City as well.
    • Venue? Not sure
    • Month? would prefer anytime between July-end of year
    • Day? Saturday(open to Friday as well)
    • Time: late morning or early afternoon for about 4 hours? (The earlier the better)

I have stuff to sell. Maybe people post what they have to sell and then the people interested could bring whatever with? I'm not close to done going through my stuff but I know for sure I'm pricing my stuff at less than Ebay prices

So it sounds like there's enough interest in a meet-up.

Maybe meet somewhere between Chicago and Elgin? Schaumburg might be a good area - easy to get to on highways and such.

If a free space can't be found, then a meeting room would probably have to be rented. That would probably require everyone to throw in cash towards a rental. If it's really just a few folks, then maybe meeting at a forest preserve, with food or snacks? If it's a forest preserve and Schaumburg sounds good, then Busse Woods is a nice, large place.

That's a good idea @DX7879 , maybe everyone could post a list of their items or their BST thread links, and we can figure out ahead of time what to bring for sales or trades.

I guess it depends if everyone wants to do more of a small, relaxed meetup with a few sales/trades and hanging out, or if people are more interested in trying to figure out how to do a small "Con" inviting all and sundry to buy things. The latter would be quite an undertaking and definitely a meeting room/hall would have to be rented. Along with that, would probably be a bunch of rules and regulations of having a public event, and much higher costs and planning.

@AutobotSoldier was looking at meeting up starting in July. Do other folks think July is good? Maybe a Saturday in July - 7/13 or 7/20?

    Thoughts?

Edit: I'll get the ball rolling with my BST thread. Open to offers.

Few years back I know that there use to be a few meetups throughout the year which was always fun. Just chilling out talking TFs etc. I sort of fell off Transformers collecting but slowly getting back into it but not as much as before lol. There is also PFcon end of June as well but unfortunately I'll be out of town during the time. Whenever I do post a list I'm also okay with just meeting people one on one if they're interested in some items but definitely easier to be able to bring a larger amount of items at once.

I would definitely be up for something. I live in Bartlett so count me in. I do not typically sell or trade but I would be up for a get together and par take in a couple beverages. Weekends are usually the best for me but that all depends on my kids and their athletic schedule. Keep me posted.

That’s freaking awesome. Gonna try to get a Super minipla Titanus to finish that Ultrazord. I’m also debating between the either the Chogokin version or the legacy version. The Chogokin one is really expensive, but the legacy version is almost impossible to get at a fair price. Not sure what to do.

Hpnestly if you are ALREADY paying the full price of admission for either pf them, go SOC, far better figure, and it poses like a champ despite having ultrazord capabilities

Legacy versions look neat and all, but dont even hold a CANDLE! to what the SOC one brings to the table
