I have a question to ask for all for all Version 2 and Chrome owners. I've had my eye on the Chrome version for months now but now I have the opportunity to pick up a brand new Version 2. Besides saving a couple of bucks, whats the pros and cons of getting the Chrome over the Version 2? Is the green a different shade? How's the QC of the Version 2 vs the Chrome version? The QC issue is my biggest concern because I have a feeling that if I pick up the Version 2 and I get QC issues, I'd have a hell of a time getting replacement parts since the Version 2 out of production.

Meh, I was too bull-horned in my reply. Apologies. Got some issues right now, that cause me to be on edge.

Anyway aside my G1s I collect on the Mp scale. I bought disco-Constructor because when I saw it, I thought: This damned thing IS Devastator. He was my first combiner and now he is also my first on the Mpscale.

An idiosyncrasy I have, is that I collect my Autobots on the SG variant, or standins or customs where applicable. I am currently painting an Mp Wheeljack (KO) to match this.

This is not the first I've heard of this. I believe you can perform some surgery and correct this, but you might need to scour this thread to find someone whose done it. I think this forum is where I've heard of this occurance. Consider getting a set of small screwdrivers with magnetic tips if you don't already have some. I never thought I would need a toolkit to play with toys but I have the screwdrivers and a set of spudger tools that I use to help with transformations.

Good stuff I was going to reply to you. Yea I had to take the whole torso apart to get to the thigh plate. Pull apart and switch em around. Pain in the @$$!

    I don't have a version 2.

But my Chrome came riddled with all sorts of QC issues. Think i posted the more severe ones a few pages back.

Every single piece had an issue. ratchets that are too tough. Misassembled pieces. that was for every bot.

Then of course, theres the frozen shoulder for Bonecrusher. Not an issue if your never gonna use any other mode except combined.

Is he worth it? With all the time and effort i put into fixing him, i'd say a weak yes. Should'nt have to with a figure that cost that much. But he is a beaut...

Yeah I've kinda settled on the fact that buying Constructor is like buying an Alfa Romero. Pain in the ass to live with but it looks amazing. I was going to pick up a Chrome version but I got a chance to pick up a Version 2 brand new. Even my Supplier is saying the Version 2 has less problems. I leaning towards getting that just cause its less of a QC headache. I just wanted to know what Constructor owners had to say with their experiences with it.

I spend about 12 hours + fixing it. I would do so again. Though I believe the asking price is insult to the injury that is the QC problems, the whole package is quality on itself and thankfully its problems fixable.

I can't remember seeing someone say that they bought a set recently and had ZERO issues. The last I can remember hearing of solid QC was the first release for the yellow set. The first v2 green set might have also been hit and miss, too...but pretty much after that, it seems everyone has had at least some kind of minor issue or worse.

Personally, I wouldn't buy this set unless a) you know what the issues (or repaired/corrected issues) are upfront and they are acceptable, b) the seller can offer support for issues or would do an outright return for refund, or c) the deal was SO GOOD it's worth the risk dealing with whatever problems you encounter. Shy of one of those scenarios, I'd pass and wait for the next opportunity, be it one of the three I just mentioned or for another group to do Dev altogether.

I've read the same thing that the Yellow set was the most "trouble-free". I have the chance to pick either the Chrome or Version 2. I was going to go with the Chrome but my seller had 1 last Version 2 left. My seller is pretty legit when it comes to Customer Support, he got me a whole new claw arm for my DX9 Gabriel super fast.

Unfortunately Toyword has the only MP scale Devastator that I know of. I had the Combiner Wars with upgrade kit and that looked decent but not what I wanted. I would have gone with the OS Gravity Builder but he's too small, even with the prototype leg extensions.

Also worth noting, there have been multiple runs of what's referred to as "v2" of both green and yellow. Anything remotely recent, like since Zeta split off, has had a pretty sorry QC track record. To be fair, there have been a decent amount of reports where the issues have been minor and correctable with DIY fixes...but still worth knowing you should fully expect a problem of some kind, and you might not be one of the lucky ones where the issue is correctable with some basic hand tool abilities.

Thanks for the advice. Sounds like I won't know until I actually get one. It's all good, I usually "fix" most of my MP Transformers out of the box anyway like my KFC Wreckgar & DX9 Omega Supreme.
