I don't buy that Overbite will be retooled from Blot. He'll probably be retooled from Rippersnapper.

Yeah, most will likely be made based off of the other Terrocon limbs which IMO wouldn't be that bad.
I bought the BBTS exclusive G1 set because these alt-modes didn't look too bad either save for the Squid looking one who I wouldn't mind them putting a little more effort into making though.

Meh. I was expecting this, but for some reason I'm not very excited. =( Piranacon is my favorite Combiner too.

There is a high probability that there will be component parts that are connected to SGMF King Poseidon & also BWII God Neptune!

I have no doubt these will happen. I still think this team could be retail releases for Hasbro. The deluxes would help pad out the villain side nicely for Hasbro (given how many deluxe 'Cons were in Siege, they need the help) and one of the deluxes will naturally be next year's Walgreens exclusive for the U.S.

doubtful, otherwise star convoy would be a mainline release. its more probable that hasbro will keep using pulse to import takara initiated generations selects figures

It's the retools! :(  Hasbro really should make new molds for this team... The retools are always disappointing to me because they hint at something that could have been amazing.
Star Convoy is sold on Hasbro Pulse, so I'm thinking this guy will be, too. And because of that... I'm out.

There's no way I'd fork $60-80 for this. It's way too much money for a retool. I get that he's "exclusive", but that's completely artificial, and paying out the nose for retools seems silly (at this point in history).

10 years ago, we'd be lining up to buy this. But nowadays, there are better options, and the high Hasbro/Takara prices don't make the choice any harder. We're reaching the point where HasTak prices are rivaling 3P, and 3P prices are dropping near retail. I guess it's because the toy industry itself is suffering and TF movies have been doing terribly... but the situation is this: HasTak is cutting corners and raising prices; 3P is building efficiencies, competing worldwide with lower costs than Hasbro, and generally offering a more fan-tailored product. Also, 3P has better customer support, even with HQs in China!

Retools like this are very 2000s, HasTak. You need to wow your customers with more than fancy marketing wordplay. :confused2

dont take this the wrong way, but you seem to have very unrealistic expectations, especially considering you admit that the toy industry has been declining. it also seems that you lack a fundamental understanding in the difference between maintaining a multibillion dollar international company vs maintaining a small few man company that operates out of china and doesnt develop their own ip

I just feel like HasTak could spend less time making another Optimus Prime and a little more time making a new set of molds for the Seacons! :D

It's REALLY hard to believe BW fans have any consumer relevance when beastformers like these tend to garner such little fan attention. The Predacons (Abominus) did not sell so well (based on empirical, retail evidence), and I doubt Predaking made too much of a splash.

Seems like the Seacons were destined to be "exclusive" because of the poor community interest.

They did make new molds for this team.

Then those molds got reused as the Terrorcons.

They're not going to pluck a toy out of the "Selects" line an drop it in retail. That's the exact opposite of that lines purpose.

A: abominus is the terrorcons, not predacons
B: g1 predacons, terrorcons and seacons hold almost no relevance to beast wars

I don't mind criticism, and I thank you for wording it so nicely. :thumb

But I'm also talking about serving the needs of your consumer: this is for EVERY company, not just the small or large ones. Hasbro struggles with this. Or maybe you're too young to remember the callous comments from past conventions?

Plus, as I've said a million times before, I'm not responsible for every bad idea from Hasbro. As such, I won't pay a premium because they launched a bad toy line 6 months ago. I won't pay double for TF toys because demand is winding down. There are limits to what you can squeeze out of your core customer base! (Unless you're Disney, in which case, go ahead and double your theme park ticket prices! :lol  No difference in sales!).

Anyway, you make valid points and I do concede that the industry faces tough challenges (Hasbro had a terrible 2018 Xmas season, thanks in part to the demise of TRU!). But, if anything, you should take my criticism for what it is: a suggestion that Hasbro may not be equipped to serve the market as well as the smaller, "copy-cat" shops out of China.

But hey, I also give out props - John Warden is doing an excellent job with the toy line right now. I think Hasbro should pay the guy more AND give his team a larger budget to work with. That's all I'm asking for: that Hasbro invest more in the Generations line, rather than cutting corners. I feel like the recent price hikes went more toward the box packaging than the toys themselves (aside from the improvement of extra paint apps, the toys are smaller!).

Whoops, sorry. I'm terribly tired. "Predacons" looked wrong when I typed it! :lol

But my BW comment was one about animal TFs, in general. I.e. poor sales in G1 animals may indicate poor interest in animal TFs! Obviously, that may or may not be the case. It could be that G1 fans don't care for animal-formers as much, and BW fans don't care for G1 animals?

Actually I think I've figured this bit out now. After some further observation, I noticed this part:

Clearly splits in two, and the positioning leads me to believe they are the parts that flip over to cover the backs of his leg, as seen here:

And this observation made me think further, because how are the cannons able to position themselves on his robot back then? My hypothesis is that his cannons are detachable, and plug into the peg holes on the insides of his robot legs (barely visible behind the red text)

I think that's more likely because of the angle and quality of the picture of his beast mode, the rest of his beastlegs/robot arms still look entirely unchanged from Hun-Gurrr's, so I don't think they'd bother to change something that small. Especially as the shield needs some way of mounting on his arm, and I don't think the shield is the part with the peg.

I think this hinge is actually there so that the shield, which forms the back half of the shell, can flip up and cover over the top half so that it can form the chest of King Poseidon/Piranacon.

His gun has what appears to be a curious amount of ports and pegs, wonder why that is.

Still, where does the combiner head flip out from, hmmm...

A new mold would be nice to have, but I'll take a retool if it means getting my hands on this team

I'm just glad that Hasbro/Takara hasn't forgotten about the Seacons.
