I really liked the flying truck mode of the original. That’s really disappointing that it’s not carried over

still needs a Matrix; that was one of the best features from the original too.

    Yeah that would be great!

I wonder if there is anyone interested in making an upgrade kit. They could add a LED matrix (so it glows in his chest) to the figure with 5mm ports so he can you know actually hold the thing.

I am really surprised they didn't include a way to replicate his flight mode considering he spent more time in that mode than as an actual fire truck in the cartoon. I'm sure someone will find a way to fanmode it eventually.

My guess, it looks so dumb :p .

I am sure someone will make a upgrade or mod so you folks can get it.

DOUBT IT, he lacks the joints for it, you'd need an all new jetpack for that, so maybe an upgrade kit

Yeah definitely no way to properly do it, i'm wondering if it might be possible to remove the wings/backpack section and Frankenstein a bunch of weaponiser parts together to hold them in something approximating a proper flight mode though. Will have to have a play around when my copy arrives.

I will be honest the flying truck mode was the first thing I tried before I went with the base mode after seeing how it would work

I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this figure. On one hand, it's a great update. On the other, it's doing so many things I don't like that it makes it really hard to pull the trigger. I've seen it twice now and both times I gave it a pass.

It's more of an homage than an update really, if your original copy is still doing swell I'd say passing on it might be the move

Wow!!! Not much love here for this guy. I found him this week and picked him up, and actually prefer him to Magnus. No, it’s not the original, but I really don’t have any complaints about him. He’s still a fun figure.

That's pretty much what I've done. The original is very hard to to, it was well ahead of its time and raised the bar for what a mass market mainline Prime could and should be.

This SIEGE homage does do a few things better in my eyes, mainly with regards to the combined mode leg proportions. More proportionate here where on the original the combined mode legs are too lanky for my liking.

It boils down to preferences, if you liked the original toy, this isn't likely going to replace it. If you enjoy the weaponization aspect of the SIEGE line, you might like this Prime.

Having the original really does keep me from buying the siege version, aside from his hips that can wear out (poor ratchet design, was there a running change I wonder?) the original toy is leader class!

The pics and reviews have all been great. Looking it over, I like what Hasbro was trying to do here. The vehicle modes look really good and the inner robot mode, while a bit chunky, doesn't look way out of proportion as say Energon Prime's core robot mode. The super mode combined mode is what gives me pause. The chest doesn't look right with the super mode windows with bits of his normal robot mode chest windows still peeking out. It's not just that though but it's really hard to nail down what else that bugs me but I think I'll probably pass on this and keep my original Cybertron Prime. Even if I did want it, sightings seem to have dried up a bit. I'm not certain if the local Wally ever got him or not.

I don't know anything about this version of Optimus, but the smaller non-super Optimus figure looks pretty awesome and I want it.
