In a stroke of not-so-brilliance, I decided to get a bunch of samurai or feudal Japan themed Transformers.

Know of more samurai, ninja, geisha themed bots to suggest? Having swords alone does not necessarily make the cut... gotta have a head or sculpt details that fits the theme.

    Also, Generations Drift.

I have a similar shelf, consisting of:
    RotF Bludgeon
Animated Jazz (he has nunchucks, which is enough for me)
Animated Prowl (though not with the Samurai armor)
    NuRiD Drift, Bludgeon, and Blastwave
    CHUG Windblade (the first one)
    Bugatti Drift
    kungfufighting.JPG

I might make room for my TLK Drift, and SS helicopter Drift if I get him. But, I don't want to make it too Drift-heavy.

I just did a quick search on the RID Drifts... the Alpine Strike (red and white) version looks the one to get for me. Thanks!

I wonder if Flame Toys will produce a model kit version of Drift. Wouldn't mind getting one of those instead of the super high-end Kuro Kara Kuri version.

I can head canon them into different characters if the designs are different enough. Or multi-verse which that's what they really are!

Another good choice is Prime Wheeljack, or his repaints, who dual-wield katanas. He's not on the shelf because he's with Energon Downshift and CHUG Wheeljack in another room.

I'm kinda surprised that, even though it's only halfway through the first page, nobody's mentioned Transformers Go! yet. Considering the two Autobot combiner teams are the Swordbot Samurai Team and Swordbot Shinobi Team, I'd have thought it'd be the first response.

That having been said, I shouldn't be surprised by it. I really, really wish the toys were any good. Like, at all. The concepts and anime designs are absolutely 100% my jam, but "burdened by their gimmicks" is really putting lightly the damage done by their weird Energon-esque combination pattern.

    Springer takes some Samurai cues.

    GDO Megatron, obviously.

Transformers Powered by Star Wars Takara Darth Vader.

I believe there was an Oroku Saki into Shredder TMNT figure.

    Alternity Banzaitron.

I think several Alternity figures had Samurai features. About five Megatron decos and a trio of seekers with car modes.

PCC Smolder would work if you give him new weapons. His helmet is pretty samurai-y.

Not familiar with that series or the toys.

I found this graphic... yeah for sure, the stag head helmets! What's their gimmick? Seems like they can combine and that each of the bots can be the "main" in combined mode?

That's about the gist of it, yeah. 3 figures, 3 ways to combine them. There's also an animal set, but I don't think they're cross compatible if I remember correctly.

I vaguely remember someone saying you can combine them all with GO! Prime at once. Never seen it and the thought scares me

Doesn't have to be necessarily the best figure, which version of Springer is most theme appropriate?

I'm digging' the Diamond Black ver of Alternity Megatron, followed by the Galvatron repaint. Shoulder and waist armour plates definitely have the look. Not seeing stuff in the Seekers, but Starscream looks pretty nice though. Might have to track him and a Japanese version of Alternity Prowl for another collection eventually.

[UPDATE] I'm such an easy sell! Bought Diamond Black Alternity Megs on Mandarake for ¥5800/$70CAD after shipping. :p

I don't know if you'd count him but Botbots Hamurai is literally a rotten ham samurai.

If you're bringing in 3P oddballs like Dirty Man (and you absolutely should) I think you may also want to consider getting into Garyuun (or Galleon) from Takara's Web Diver series. He's a feudal-era sailing ship that turns into a pirate dragon with a massive sword and shield.
