No offense, but what magical retail chain did you work at where giving a shit wasn't just talked about but actively encourage by management? Sounds like a dream come true.
A lot of Targets mandate that if a case is coming in, the staff must get it unpacked, broken down and on the shelves. IF it's not street dated. Problem is, if it's someone new or a sub from another department, they'll never even bother looking at the case. Plus the department manager might not care (they really don't) and they'll tell the underling to do it anyway. (It depends on the location.) It's usually caught at the register level, then a store manager can decide whether or not to override. (Most refuse and WILL take them back.)
I used to be like that when I worked for Borders Books back in the day. It was a point of pride that I knew my regulars and could make sure they went home happy with well-stocked product put out appropriately. Then when Borders shut down, I moved to Target and was shocked at how different the culture was. The oppressive management style of a huge million-store company presses down upon you and wears you down so that the things you used to pride yourself on become things that just aren't worth it anymore. At Target, there were times when I felt actively punished for caring about the customers. Just my own experience, but the expected work ethic of employees can vary from company to company and even store by store when it comes to retail.
Happens sometimes that Amazon will intentionally hide listings of shortpacked items or make them less likely to pop up in search results to deflect attention from something that is too popular or new. I haven't seen an example like this where Amazon works so hard to make the listing vanish entirely though! Even searching by UPC (630509808373) doesn't work and I don't see a direct link to it anywhere. Preorders are still open on GameStop, but for late May.
Aw man, looks like my Zedd is backordered from Target. Thought about cancelling and going with Pulse or Amazon when those popped up, but since it was first and I got in ASAP I figured I'd just let it go. Was really looking forward to getting him soon. Now just really hoping it gets fulfilled at all and the delay's not too bad. But I also check stores regularly so maybe I'll get lucky once the street date hits. *shrug*
Doesn't mean anything anymore. Physical distribution is a crapshoot and never know when or if an online store will restock. I hardly saw the first wave of Siege deluxes here for example and only 1 Cog at any point and now we're on to wave 2. And with a character as popular as Zedd... Yeah I'd rather know I'm getting it early than hoping I luck out at a store.
So what are my chances of being able to purchase them at target if i do see them before the street date? Or is it almost guaranteed that you can’t by them before the 21st or whenever
At my store the unloading crew would not use scanners and just look at the box label and put it out accordingly. If there isn't a street date on the box they wouldn't know.
I've seen the pegs up for Lightning Collection at my Target but no figures. Wonder if someone managed to buy them or they put them back/didn't take them out in the first place.
I don't regret passing on the Figuarts Zyurangers now. Itching to get Zedd and Tommy. Armored Red too since that's inevitable. Also the Goraijers.
Do any of you honestly think that it should have been Lightning Collection Green Ranger first instead of White Ranger first?
No, the Green Ranger was overdone in Bandai’s toylines, and if your gonna promote Tommy, at least it’s the white ranger so it’s not as repetitive.
Best Buy. There was a reason we were the number 1 store in Colorado from 2007-2010. Honestly, I couldn't care less about the culture. They are there to do a job and I expect them to do that job since I did. I get what you are saying though. I'm glad I didn't since I doubt Hasbro is going to do a male Yellow Ranger.
I'm a huge Power Rangers fan and I def agree with you. I have all the lightning figs and am super happy that hasbro now owns Power Rangers. What does everyone think about the Beast Morphers basic figure line? I'm actually impressed. yes they are, but depending on what store if they'll sell them to you or not. they're not supposed to be on the shelf until 5/01. good luck and happy hunting.
Eh, I'm more of a White Ranger fan myself so this doesn't bother me, but I expect the Green Ranger version of Tommy won't be too long away. I expect we'll end up with every version of Tommy possible in the new line eventually.
I’m not going to get them except for the villains, but I love what I’ve seen. They actually put more articulation in them than their basic Marvel figures.
Nah. The White Ranger was in the show far longer than the green ranger was and was part of the movie.
