I'm planning on swapping the abs and using SS-32 Optimus since his windows aren't painted (last I checked. He's been on the shelf awhile, now.) I'm basically robbing this guy of everything he has and throwing him in a box. lol

I, for one, am glad they didn't use metallic plastic. They "seem" to have gotten rid of GPS like anomalies, but it's better to shy away from it all as much as possible, I think. Ugh...GPS. I do think we'll see SS-44 with metallic paint, though. If the ab piece that comes with Jetfire is any indication, I'm sure he'll have faint metallic paint. We have to remember, this is all renders and badly lit photographs. In hand, final products, are always different from what we see here.

In case anyone wishes to argue that, let's not forget the images of SS-32 in which the pelvis was reversed or he was assembled incorrectly before the photoshoot and the one in hand doesn't have that problem.

Um... There is a much higher parts count, here. Each panel of the trailer, the accessories, the ring/frame itself, the wheels, etc. When you add in the Voyager Class Optimus himself, which has a pretty good parts count, we're actually getting a pretty good deal here. Not perfect, no, but can you really say Voyager Starscream or Deluxe Ironhide have as many parts as SS-44? I don't think so. I'd actually have LESS paint apps and more plastic on the Siege figures.

All mentioned have a 5mm port doubling as a trailer connector. So, the trailer should be compatible with all of them.

 

Go with their acrylic!

 

Hey look everyone! Optimous Prime got his very own Cobra Claw!

 

Cobra Commander hides his face, Optimus takes faces, Optimus has a Cobra Claw... It's all coming together!

 

For a movie studio series figure, this looks pretty back. The accessory stuff looks like a cheap after thought. Look at all of that hollow stuff. A bunch of "shells" no substance.

I'm good with my Takara leader Jetwing Prime.

 

I was eyeballing the Voyager at the store recently, and wondering about this myself. That answers that question.

 

Hmm, I'm not liking the silver painted windshield instead of the translucent one...

 

Dear Hasbro,

More Optimus Prime releases. I cannot subsist on just the 20 you are currently releasing per quarter.

I completely support your goal to fill entire store shelves with Optimus Prime. It's just not right for your potential customers to face the choice of Optimus AND another character, when they can be choosing between Optimus toys!

Please increase production of Optimus Prime until this brand is good and milked dead.

A likely possibility. At this point I wouldn't be surprised for Studio Series AOE Prime to just be a repack/slight repaint of the TLK Voyager, so including a few new accessories with that could soften the blow for those that feel the need to buy the same toy again.

 

That's transforming trailer into a weapons platform or whatever is impressive...hell you can turn that into a portable space bridge or dimension creator.

 

This is again making me glad I've held off of getting the other two Primes for SS.

 

Well, I admit I've been feeding this, but damn Hasbro for indulging me. Kinda sad how many of these I've bought recently. Each time I've managed to convince myself it's an essential release that I could not be without!

Man, he's even got the yellow fade on the nose of the truck! His color looks closer to the dark red of the chest piece that came with Jetfire than the bright red of SS-32, which is also nice. This Prime looks so good.

I still can't believe Hasbro actually made a trailer that turns into the jetpack AND the weapon ring. I never thought anyone would ever give us a weapon ring, yet here we are, and it's fully loaded with weapons too! The inclusion of the SS-32 gun alongside the new sword, shield, axe, and jetwing guns is the icing on the cake. Yeah it would've been nice if he'd come with the DOTM gun and the knuckle too, but what we're getting is already far beyond what I expected when the Studio Series Leader Optimus listing was first discovered, so I can't complain.

 

i was excited for this since i never had the old ab-ed out prime but why does this look....cheap? at least compared to the initial images we got

 

All this does is make me (still) regret cancelling my order for the 3rd Party one for the ROTF Leader Optimus. Stupid me, wanting to be frugal and work on a savings account.
