Whatever you call the waist slide/connection thing that MP-43 Megatron has. I love him except that part of his transformation is ridiculously awful.

Vehicle/alt-mode kibble. If it can't pass for a disguise, what good is it.

Butterface, hollow parts, and proportions that make the figure look stupid and/or comical (I'm thinking of that Legends scale Bee a while back that had a stretched torso).

Gorilla-arms/dumbbell curve elbows - never settling for them again after Maniaking.

Hip skirts that limit or cut off thigh articulation - it's 2019 folks, you can panel them to move with the leg, not block them. MP10, Maketoys Cupola etc.

Knees that won't make at least a 90' bend. These should be action-figures, not bricks.

Bad articulation in general - stuff like GlacialLord is a great homage to the G1 aesthetic - but I'm not going to applaud with actual money. See above.

    1. Giant Backpacks on MP figures. I can tolerate a mid sized backpack, but when you look like Quasimodo you need to go back to R&D (looking at you MP44). I don't mind it on Sunstreaker because it was required to accommodate the license requirements from Lambo.
    2. MP Feet!. This is a big thing for me. If you got ugly ass feet. you will not be in the collection.
    3. Faux parts for things that should be part of the transformation. I tolerate it on Sunstreaker, because the rest of him looks great and I need the 2 Lambro's together.

    1. Useless diecast so basically almost all diecast used in nowadays figures.

    2. Design/scale/color liberties. I buy figures looking like the characters I watched on screen when I was a kid, I don't want nor care about what someone else thinks "it should have looked like".

    3. No well placed perfectly flat faction symbol space. This does include the absence of gimmick to hide them in modes that shouldn't show them.

    4. Bad engineering. If I have to apply excessive force, bend something, partsform something that wasn't necessary then it's bad engineering.

    5. Greasy mess. Yeah, that's an uncommon one but I can't help it. I HATE when my figures are littetaly covered in grease. Sure SOME grease is needed in some joints but it seems some companies, especially one, like to literally drown their figures in it to the point it's almost impossible to perfectly clean them afterwards.

-compromised designs to make room for stupid gimmicks. IE Armada Starscream's spine-tumor, anything larger than an LR44 battery compartment (MasterMade does it right!), And spring-loaded brickiness.

-neglected articulation. Not every point has to be a U-joint, but every elbow or knee that does not bend kinda ticks me off.

Excessive or angry mold flash. Some molds might as well have come with the sprue still attached, others rip off the bits and leave terrible acne-scar pits.

I just don't like excessive chrome. For instance, it works on Fanshobby Archenemy's smokestacks (at least I think that's chrome?) but I'm not going to be buying the chromed Gigapower dinobots. It's more a fear of loss sort of thing, I loved the TM2 figures as a kid and losing their chrome was a big frustration. I do prefer metallic paint in most cases, specifically the very shiny kind used on figures like Cybertron Galvatron or even the paint on Fans Hobby Archenemy's bumper.

Short thighs + long shins/lower legs
    Zero bicep + long forearms

This is lazy design and so common.

overly toon simplified and plain - for example TT inferno style

too greebly - like a lot of siege figures

wrong size/scale - TT magnus, kfc stack, dx9 gewalt, dx9/ft stunticons

lack of needed articulation - waist swivels on large figures is a big one for me. TT magnus and FT phoenix are giant offenders here.

bad alt mode(s) - especially one or two things that really stick out in an otherwise good alt mode - almost skipped downbeat, skipped kfc's blitzwing

mid thigh cuts - thigh swivels got to be done at the hip joint or the knee joint - eventually i couldn't stand kfc's blaster anymore..

    overly loose joints

mold gates done in areas that are too obvious

    bad proportions - like dx9 carry's arms

Funny, mine is "combiners that do use partsforming". Specifically pants. I'll groan and tolerate feet and hands, but if 40% of the combined mode is just "we give up, here's a massive cheat", then I'm just not interested. I'm in this for the imaginative artistry in making these combinations and transformations happen. If that part gets bypassed, I'm out.

That's fair. I agree that chrome wear is rather unfortunate. I "restored" a couple of G1 Megatron figures and the chrome was the worst part - I can polish the scuffs and scratches out of the black and red plastic parts, I can add washers and superglue to tighten joints, I can build a new connection for the waist, and a new set of stickers from Toyhax just makes him sing but the most I could do for the chrome was to put a layer of future over top of it to protect it from further damage and to partially obscure the existing damage by making it uniformly shiny (there's Molotow chrome but it's ridiculously delicate, doesn't take clear coats well at all, and it doesn't match the chrome on Megatron so it wouldn't work anyway). And finding parts on ebay was a freakin' pain - drastic chrome damage is apparent but the little scuffs and nicks are almost impossible to see on the ridiculously blurry photos that every eBay seller seems to want to use. Still, I think they came out pretty good - I can barely see the chrome damage in my pics (it's there but you have to really look for it - most obvious is the lower edge of the bot mode one's chest):

    (Damn, I love this pic!)

All that said, I just love how chrome looks. I've taken to brushing a layer of Future onto any new figures' chrome parts, especially Takara who seems to use the most delicate chrome possible. I can understand not wanting to jump through extra hoops like that but for me chrome is worth it. It just looks so good. I keep hoping we'll hear about some KO MP36+ figures soon 'cuz I just gotta' have that chrome but Takara's price is laughable.

By the gods, that is horrible, not just talking about the abomination new mp Bee but all those "cartoon accurate" Primes and stuff, with technology we have we can have modernized and perfected G1 characters like MP10, then people demand that this tech is used to represent flawed and outdated or even accidental design aspects of said characters...

    That too o.o

When I started collecting again back in 2014 or so, I was going to get into the Takara MPs. After I did some research and found out how delicate the post-Hasui MPs decos are, I decided to get into third party figures. I really should force myself to get some floor polish and an MP Starsaber, but somewhere in my head I still think the chrome is going to fall of in spite of my efforts. And yeah, I know it's a bit silly. I really do struggle with some ocd tendencies, my MMC Tyrantron had a scratch on his forehead slightly larger than a grain of sand and I ended up paying to get an entirely new head even though it couldn't be seen from a foot away. It's a legit problem for me! But yeah, I'm not going to pass on a figure just because it has a small chrome part or two, but I will probably wait for reports from fellow fans to make sure it's not going to fall of in my hands.

That too! In fact while I am actually ok with combiner hands and feet partsforming I still wanted to see at least a large mp combiner incorporate everything. I like what MMC is doing with their Bruticus feet for example and with current tech it IS possible, but in some cause designs for characters would have to be altered into something more original as well.

Excessive use of armature with too many joints leading the figure to have dangling limbs during transformation. I call it a cheat for partsforming.

    1) I don't like TOO much toon where it gets to the point that it looks cheap on my shelf because it's been so over simplified. Give me some detail just so it looks interesting.

    2) When the figure gives up too much to have super articulation. I love articulation but not at the cost of looking good.
