Dinobot is never complete without Rattrap.

Of course we 'need' Rattrap and Rhinox now we have Primal, Cheetor and Dinobot. It would be criminal if they didn't complete the Axalon crew! (fingers crossed)

The plastic has metallic sparkle flecks mixed into it. Because this additive is merely in suspension, it clumps and gathers of its own accord as a result of flow currents when the plastic is forced into the injection molds. These denser clumps of metallic flake are visible on the surface of the plastic, creating the "swirls".

Thankfully the way it's used on Megatron is mostly inoffensive and 'appropriate', but I really hate swirly plastic...it just looks shit.

I'm a real g1 fan and watched almost every episode back than until the return of Optimus Prime witch was 2 episodes as far I can remember.
Lost my interest after that somehow (got interested in girls instead:D ) so I also didn't watch the Headmaster series (read the comicbooks though) and never saw an episode of beast wars.
I didn't even know they exist until Optimus primal came out:oops:

My son started collecting Bay formers and so my interest in g1 came back and i started collecting g1 masterpieces.

But seeing the big hight difference of Primal and Megatron I very curious how on earth Prime could defeat him.
It is almost sad to see the big hero of the g1 series and in the Bay movies is that small....
So my question is: how did he stand that big Megatron?
Is this a kind of David and Goliath situation or was Prime indeed not capable to face megatron and that he needed other ways to defeat him.

Allthough I'm still not interested in BW enough to buy one, I realy like this BW Megatron, awesome figure:cool:

Hello and welcome back to the fold. Let me help you out with your Beast Wars confusion.

Your first totally understandable mistake is conflating The Beast Wars characters of Optimus Primal and Megatron with the G1 characters of Optimus Prime and..ahem Megatron(easy mistake to make right?). They are not the same at all, neither the same characters or terribly similar to their namesakes. Primal is an explorer and not big deal in the command structure of the Maximals when they are redirected to chase down the machiavellian crook that is Megatron. Therefore it's not surprising he is not some hulking mass of heroic perfection....that comes later ;)

As for him being able to 'beat' Megatron....well that's where Beast Wars is far more...nuanced that's G1. It's not just about firepower, it's about intelligence and resourcefulness, something Primal has in spades. Megatron totally 'outguns' Primal in size and might (at the beginning of the series, not by the end!) but he's also arrogant and surrounds himself with idiots and traitors. The Maximals 'win' becuase they work as a team under a leader who grows more confident and heroic with each episode. Unlike G1 Prime who comes pretty much fully formed, we see Primal grow into the role.

Now both figures transformed 4 times. The one thing that’s hard to do is snap the folding pieces in place that swing like a door before you swing it up. One of the figures can’t quite get one of the arms to stay properly in his arm. I’ll watch another video again to follow what was done.

As far as the waist mechanism, it continues to require force to move it around, but I’ve at least figured out my own placement of how to hold it when I lock it or open it. Guess this will be my deskbot for the next few weeks. Coo

It was kind of like Andre the Giant vs Hulk Hogan or The Big Show vs John Cena if you get the wrestling analogy. Despite Megatron being a good deal larger than Primal, Optimus was just as strong if not stronger and often defeated him when it came down to hand to hand combat.

What a great summation of much of what made Beast Wars great. It’s also interesting that the parts of TF fiction I like less are those where these kinds of qualities, themes and elements are missing.

I still love the figure and think it's quite sturdy but really struggle with doing the perfect transformation. I can't tab properly on the the top of his back his side panels. It seems there's a clearance issue because of his shoulder pad that stands too high for the the panels to meet on the top of it. Any tips please ?
I did move the shoulders forward

I can see why, but I honestly think that figure will look so much better in person than you would think. He'd have this glossy, almost wet look which would make him look super unique on the shelf, and his beast mode will be really flat and textured, plus you'd almost certainly get a bee you can connect to Primal's chest to make badass primal.

Uhh, I think I disagree here. While the toys were the same, the character models were realllllly distinct. Blackarachnia's robot body is a completely different shape that Tarantulus. While Cheetor and Tigatron have pretty different shapes in Beast Mode, which may take some engineering to make cheetor's transformation work for Tigatron, their robot modes are the same so there's at least something to work with. Tarantulus and Blackarachnia are pretty different in both modes. Tarantulus is flatter and wider, blackarachnia is rounder in beast mode. In robot mode, there is almost nothing they have in common.

I think Tegatron will be heavily reworked but use largely the same transformation as Cheetor (though I htink his beast mode will be more different than a lot of people realize) while Tarantulus will be an entirely different figure.

@Joalro on Scorponok, I have no doubt the figure itself will be great looking, I just have no love for the character or the design...easily my least favouite from season one in both regards. A bee accessory for Primal would be cool obviously...and maybe a super angry face plate for him?

On Tarantulas I think you misunderstand my point. I mean the basic transformation is roughly the same (same spider bits end up in the same places in robot mode) therefore they might share some engineering. I know Cheetor and Tigatron are more similar to each other. Although not as similar as some think, @Verno pointed this out recently in the speculation thread., which is all this is I'm totally prepared to be wrong about this ;)

I like how every season ended with Megatron winning and as Beast Machines likes to mention, won the Beast Wars.

I finally got around to transforming into robot. With the exception of the tight waste joint, which I took my time to study and understand what was moving and where I needed to grab, this is yet another massive home run by Takara. I have no concerns with breakage yet. I’m so happy with this figure.

A little bit yeah, my tongue was in my cheek....however although I know it's a 20 year old series and all that, he might be interested in watching it now and not want any spoilers.
