Not a chance. Nothing beats overlord’s lips.
You may not like it. But you do get what you pay for. High quality super robot transformers action figures. The prices are expensive. But it’s a case of you can’t afford them, not that they’re overpriced.
This does not. However it does combine with their Optimus.

A non-transforming figure that features a smaller figure that transforms into armour, helping another figure transform into a super mode, with gorilla arms and a 300 dollar price point...

    Hmm...

I'd rather pay the $300 for MP-43 Megatron and get an articulated, transforming figure than a glorified Marvel Legends.

And they're clearly going for the Flame Toys sort of aesthetic so I'd expect a hefty price.

Well that’s good for you. But I wouldn’t be so certain when you don’t know the price.

3P metal build Gundam generally run from $125-150 for 1/100 7.5”, to $185 for a 1/72. A big complicated design like Kshatriya goes for $250 for 1/100, 9”. Quality can be variable. There’s often a preorder discount, and the first run is always cheaper than subsequent runs. My 3P metal builds haven’t had as much paint or tampos as an official Bandai.

I’ll be interested to see how much these go for. I’m not expecting Bandai/Flame Toys prices, though.

Whether a metal build is worth the price is really up to the buyer and what they expect/want. It’s obviously a different market than a transforming toy.

I'm all for the RID love, but Optimus has removed the firetruck parts, which I thought was the most interesting aspect of that design.
And Magnus looks almost nothing like RID Magnus.
I suppose it would be more apparent if he were colored, but looking at the grey figure I see nothing that reminds me of RID Ultra Magnus.

Another Optimus truck figure... only this time he has slightly bigger appendages...no thank you. They could have at least modeled it after the actual fire truck vehicle. Otherwise whats the point? Its just the same old Optimus Prime we get time and time again.

Except it’s not at all like the standard Optimus? Seriously. I don’t know what you’re going on about.

Oh man, I feel almost Monkey Paw'd here. RiD Optimus might be my biggest nostalgia bomb Optimus design. Grew up with the toy, and to this day I have wished to see that design and his excellent even by today's standards super mode get revisited. This looks cool, but oh the tinge of sorrow in having him not able to transform or even just have a proper standard mode + armor up gimmick.

Hope the price isn't too terrifying, haha.

If this guy had been in the 80-100 range, I'd have probably been tempted to save, but oof...I can't really justify spending that much on a figure, even of my favorite Prime, when he doesn't even have the proper armor up gimmick. Monkey Paw'd!
