Because I was curious, I put the V1 antenna on the V2 head -- and I really like it. I think the wider V1 antennae are a better visual balance with the long V2 face, whereas I felt the V2 antennae were a bit thin (though a better sculpt -- they're beveled).

(Oddly, you can't do the reverse; the V2 antennae don't fit on the V1 head.)

And yes, the V1 antennae on the V2 head still need to be maneuvered to fit into the alt mode cab without accidentally bending them.

Brother, tell me about it. Between what's currently (and soon to be) released from MP 3P companies like Badcube, FT, XTB, TE I refuse to believe they are just letting those releases pass them by. It's all good though.

 

Sure, but the thing is this figure isn't going anywhere anytme soon...if the second run sells out quickly, they'll do a 3rd run. So if the worst case scenario is to buy the whole damn thing over again, well let it play out a few more weeks and then go from there...

 

Do you think they'll do a 3rd run? I'm not familiar with other 3P companies. My reference is just Fanstoys and I'm not sure they did a 3rd run on their releases. You can buy another one sure but that's $100+ vs $5 - $10. Not everybody can shell out another $100.

 

Hi all. First post here. Found this forum when searching about TE-01. I really love this figure. The new head definitely gives the cartoon feels.

The original head has reminded me of the original comic books Prime. Thought I'd double down on that and tweak the TE-01 original head's eyes. Painted them yellow to match the comic. I like it. Won't be using it as my primary head--love the new one too much. Might let Soundwave carry the head around a bit in another nod to the original comic series.

Anyhow, here's how it turned out. And hi everyone from a first time poster!

Well, it was fun while it lasted. (19 whole minutes).  

 

The 3rd run will be released right after MP-44 and will come with an adapter for its trailer.  

 

If the second run sells out in a matter of a few weeks, I absolutely think they will. And that last part...that's sort of my point. Give it a couple more weeks and see how it all plays out with the new head for first run customers before getting impatient and buying the whole figure again. I dont think anyone should have to resort to rebuying the figure just to get the new head...that's BS. I have to believe it will be available somehow, someway...but yeah, it's probably going to be another week or two.

 

Interested to see a picture of this, comparing to the standard V2 head.

 

As I said, yes, I acted too quick but I just wanted the wait to end. I will also not sell any figure, especially as V1 has die-cast knees.

oku gave up getting the head from TE’s designer who is a close friend of him. So the way I see it, getting the new head will be difficult. Especially for someone who bought it from eBay like me. Also you think I didn’t try to contact my eBay seller? I sent him numerous messages and the guy just doesn’t bother. He said he would send a message to factory and I never got any news after that. He won’t make any money out of this transaction so he just doesn’t want to get it... About contacting TE directly... Overall, it’s a company that just wants to make money right now and which screwed first time supporters, so don’t think this is happening.

I have a hard time believing anybody is that pathetic. You really think there are people buying 3rd party figures and not admitting it just because they're worried what a bunch of strangers on the internet will say? I think the purists are weird but they can't be that bad, right?

 

I think it is an understandable attitude though. We all know 3rd parties produce great figures but still without any license. So in a way, they kind of steal customers from the official brands. But the way I see it, there is customers for all of these companies since the official can’t produce all the characters and figures every companies do. So sharing the license would be a great thing but well, that’s not happening!

 

You can't steal customers if you don't make the same figures. It's only recently where third parties have been brave enough to go toe to toe with Takara. Wasn't that long ago that if there was a hint of Takara doing something then that character was ignored around here.

All that being said, in this example with Optimus, third parties aren't stealing customers either imo. Takara are pushing ppl away with their astronomical price for mp44 and 3P are catering to those who are never gonna spend that kinda money. You can't claim a stolen customer if you were never gonna get their custom.

 

I'll buy any 3p tf if i like it and won't mind what purists would say about it, my choice to buy 3p and not someone elses.........
