Glad you received everything and we have another seller to add to the list! Animetropolis is good in my book as well. It shipped a day or two after the flash sale then arrived in 3 days via DHL express which was a surprise for me since I didn't pay for expedited or anything.

Hopefully this is the last time I will have to buy a MP shockwave stand-in, this is the color the original release should have been. Now I just have to go to my hardware store to see if they have any yellow plasti-dip so I can paint the eyes without it being permanent

 

Mine arrived on Friday - let me know if yours was opened - Customs opened mine - all 4 pieces of tape inside were cut and taped over. Figure is perfect, though.

 

I do kinda wish I'd gone with Animetropolis as I think they were about $4 cheaper than what I paid   To be fair my seller was listed as "GOOD" in that eBay Seller Check thread, but since I hadn't seen any direct testimonials I was still SLIGHTLY nervous, but all good! Hope you can post a picture of that eye if and when you paint it!

As far as I could tell, mine was unopened. There was exactly one piece of tape on each box flap and no evidence of tearing or anything from tape being removed prior to that or anything. Same with the four inner pieces of tape holding the clamshell together. Well, exactly one of the sides had two pieces of tape for some reason, but both were uncut.

 

Mine had the same problems problem. I thought it was a used item at first but everything look untouched. One side had double tape then the clam shell had all 4 pieces with double tape. Everything looked untouched in the box though. I check for any imperfection but didn't see any

Shockwave (MP-29+) Full LED Tutorial!

Materials used: 28AWG magnet wire (red & green), 36AWG magnet wire (red & copper), Dupont connectors (male & female), Dupont housing, 3mm cool white blinking LED (2Hz), 2835/3528 SMD (warm white, cool white, pink), 5050 SMD (pink), Rustoleum gloss purple paint, Krylon gloss gum drop paint. Another triumph!!! Wow!

 

I finally got mine today and thankfully my retailer gets untampered- non orange plug crap.
I am so happy to own this figure. Being a G1 figure collector and lover of Megs as a gun, this release hit home for me. Now, if only Takara would make the black repaint. Then I will be completely satisified.
As far as this version of 36 goes, its wonderful. I much prefer the chrome for the gun mode than the regular 36. Both look great together beside eachother on display of course. A black repaint would make it all complete. I have all the G1 versions including the black reissue and looking at them all together is spectacular.

 

Wow man. That blinking effect in the eye is incredible! And amazing tutorial video, you sir are a treasure  

After having so much fun with the light up eyes of MP-32, 41 and 43 I do kinda wish Shockwave had more than just light-piping.

 

Can anyone else only engage MP-29+'s ab crunch when the trigger is pulled out of its storage?
I wonder if the trigger piece was remoulded between MP-29 and this, for some reason it appears to be impeding that ab crunch.

 

I was musing between Shockwave Masterpiece 29 and 29+ but in the end bought the lighter MP-29 for 2 reasons:
1) I relooked at the G1 cartoons, actually Shockwave is quite constantly on the light purple side
2) MP-29 is almost $100 cheaper than MP-29+ so it's also less painful to the wallet

That's what I'm telling myself anyway! But love the mold.

 

I just tried and I also can't engage it, though I could have sworn it worked fine when I first took it out of the box. Maybe I'm mis-remembering and it only worked on MP-29. Haven't tried moving the trigger yet.

 

How much can he crunch?

 

Completely agree, he was definitely more often on the lighter side. That said, if there's ever a KO of the darker version (although it seems unlikely at this stage) I'll pick it up for nostalgic reasons.

 

Sam, do you mean the joint doesn't bend forward or backward at all? Or do you mean it won't lock into place in the forward position? Mine moves back and forth, but it's much harder to get that tab into the top of the underwear to hold it in place than the og. I can barely do it, tbh. Other than this fault, would love to hear you elaborate more on your feelings about Shockwave+! Still favoring the og?

Sometimes he was lighter like the original release (Transport to Oblivion, The Ultimate Doom pts2&3), but sometimes he was indeed darker.









The colors of 29 and 29+ both feel right to me, but it's 29+'s extensive paint job, smaller eye, and firmer thigh and ankle joints that make him the winner in my book.

 

Totally agree and I would also say that 29+'s hue is pretty much correct to all appearances in the cartoon, but the value and saturation differed sometimes. Og 29's value is lighter like in many shots from the cartoon, but the hue is "wrong" (too blue) and it's oversaturated compared to those shots. However, I still love the original color too accuracy aside, and it is accurate to at least that one original Sunbow color model sheet.
