It is hilarious that JJ is bringing his magic back after we were being told that he was totally cool with Rian Johnson wrecking everything he set up.

I’m hoping there won’t be a literal return of the Emperor. I’m kinda good with returning OT characters at this point. Ghost/spirit appearance at most. I just wanna spend more time with the new cast and see them beat Kylo’s ass.

 

That subtitle just doesn't make sense to me. The movie is supposed to conclude the story of the skywalker family, right?

 

Give me a little more there?

 

TLJ tried to do away with the idea of lineage. Skywalker just may be a title now. Everyone in the galaxy knows Skywalker is a hero, Rey is a “Skywalker”. Maybe? Or it’s Kylo

 

JJ bringing back the Emperor for the third film in a trilogy? I am SHOCKED.

Huh, it's a pretty neat trailer. Certainly better than the first Last Jedi teaser. I think I watched that once or twice, and then kind of forgot about it for a while. I've already watched this a few times.

I'm intrigued by the Death Star, Palpatine's laugh, and the title. I hope they retcon Rey into being Luke's daughter, and then reveal that Palpatine's ghost was possessing Snoke and orchestrating the First Order all along. The plot could involve the characters discovering this, and travelling to the remains of the second Death Star to extinguish his ghost, or something along those lines. That would be awesome, and totally redeem the fact that the First Order is just an Empire copycat.

Overall, I think the imagery is a lot more striking here than in TLJ. Better use of color and cinematography. I'm still a bit wary (I'm not a huge Abrams fan), but I'm more optimistic than I was before.

 

Rumors are that the split Force Ghost of Anikan/Vader, as seen in the TFA Art Book, are possibly in the movie. Vader always blamed himself and Palpatine for Padme's death, and Vader could never overthrow the Emperor in his suit. Part of why I think Kylo will be the lesser bad guy in the 1st order, Vader reaches out to him and shows him a "better" way.

 

I wonder if rise of Skywalker means Kylo ren.

Ep. 8: TESB clone w/ the walkers and the battle for salt planet Hoth and no Death Star

Ep. 6: RotJ w/ a new Death star.
Ep. 9: Episode 6's Death Star. Ok- part of it. Cool imagery regardless.

And the Falcon has a round dish again. Very nice.

I'm concluding that Rey with the tie / Kylo Vader is a dream sequence... or a premonition.

Only a couple minutes... over half of it dedicated to Rey and the tie in the desert. So that's under a minute of teaser.
Fortunately / unfortunately / fortunately nothing to get excited over... let alone restore any faith in this Disney sh!t-show of a franchise.

It's a JJ movie; so likely mediocre on story but big on spectacle. If nothing else it'll look good.
And anything has got to be better than TLJ.

 

I can’t wait for the next OT special edition when they add that giant piece of Death Star flying out of the explosion.

But.

JJ did everything he could to make Force Awakens the New New Hope, instead of starting off a new saga differently. Now we see sand skiffs, Lando, Death Star, possibly Endor replacement, possibly Darth Sidious and it just feels like he's doing everything he can to make Return of the Return of The Jedi.

Can say what you will about The Last Jedi. But at least Johnson tried to do something a little different. Albeit there was still the seeking out a jedi master subplot and a AT-AT fight. But he tried.

To me I find that JJ tries to make everything OT Star Wars and keeps to the old, while Rian went crazy with the new concepts and tried to burn JJ's bridge down to make his own movie for him, instead of making a movie to help strengthen the over-arching plot.

Or at least to its fullest potential.

I really like both Force Awakens and Last Jedi, but both suffer from both trying to replicate OT Star Wars and placing new ideas into the movies that overshadow the Star-Wars feeling of the films. Such as the numerous new aliens and yet hardly any actual Star Wars Aliens from the past 2 trilogies walking around.

These movies definitely need their own Fiege or Russo Bros.

I'm still very much excited to see this own though, albeit I did want a possible return of Snoke more than Sidious. Snoke was wasted potential.

 

I would have thought rey would build her own lightsaber then. Not fix Luke's.
