I still prefer the regular head, but cool that you found a way to improve your figure!

I personally don't want the new bot designs to get even MORE G1. They're basically already 90% there...

I do worry that those who grew in the bayverse will be upset that it always has to go back to g1. I do love some of the bay designs and will surely miss them but i am excited to collect this upcoming line. If you do have siege prime, do the quick swap and see if you like it. It completely transformed the way i see his proportions now.

I mean, I had already graduated college when the first bay movie came out, so I actually grew up with G1 and Beast Wars, which is why I like the bay designs, because I have always been open to different interpretations of the characters. I like siege prime, but I LOVE SS-38 and the Bay designs. They're all cool, I'm just hoping to continue in the vein of doing new stuff with new material in the franchise to keep it fresh. Like I said though, I'm glad you like the hybrid you came up with! The siege head is pretty nice.

I've been playing with this figure last night and this morning, and I've had nothing but fun. I was a bit skeptical after I was let down by Beetle-Bee, but I'm happy to say this figure is so much better. The transformation is very involved, and a lot of fun. I love the overall design, colors, proportions, and head sculpt. He just looks powerful and heroic. There's a lot of great detail to the design also. I love what they did with the fuel tanks, and the method used to split the windshield in robot mode.

I feel like the engineering could have been tightened up a bit. A couple things are tricky to tab in (the grill, some bits of the legs). I also feel like the legs are a bit too thin in some places (I worry about snapping them). Overall the legs are the least-fun part, but I do like the transformation scheme used there, so I'm fine with them existing as they do. Considering how involved this transformation is, I have to say they did a good job with it. Unlike Bumblebee, I don't find the problems to be frustrating, or to take away from the fun of the figure.

For years, the Optimus I've had on display is the old masterpiece (the 25th anniversary edition). I think this guy might finally end up taking that spot. I would certainly recommend this figure.

Finally able to order him from HasbroPulse. Was everything I thought he'd be.

Robot Mode: Looks fantastic! Not a perfect representation of the film design but damn good. Sometimes the backpack can get in the way of the arms but you can shift things around to accommodate pretty much anything. Everything holds together very well. Weapons storage on the back is good. Fantastic sculpting and a great paint job (like most of Studio Series).

Transformation: I really dig this engineering. Clearly Studio Series is targeting adult collectors for this stuff which is really nice for a collector when most of the designs are intentionally watered down to be kid friendly. It is a very unique take on the character.

Vehicle Mode: Classic Peterbilt Cab over engine 1984 semi! Best looking interpretation of the design in the size class by far. Two methods of weapon storage is very nice and with the trailer hitch I am hoping the Dark of the Moon Optimus coming soon that his trailer will be compatible. Only minor complaint as others have sited the legs pegging into the back of the cab does look a bit awkward but not nearly as bad as POTP Orion Pax.

Overall: Excellent figure, easily worth the money and them some. Being a retro-inspired modern design he looks great with your generations or film collection. He puts Seige optimus to absolute shame, though there's no reason not to have both. Besides this prime technically being a movie design he's also an earth mode optimus while seige is pre earth so it's easy to justify him both ways. In my collection he will actually be replacing Classics Optimus Prime (for whom I will actually still be using his Nemesis variant so I can do Nemesis vs Optimus and they have their own designs).

To each his own but this figure is top notch no matter what your personal preferences are.

BTW: Once again films do G! better than generations. It's a helluva thing.

This particular version easily flies off the shelves and I never saw this person yet.
I'm undecided on getting this coz while it looks great, he's so small.
Part of me wishing 3Ps will make an OS version of this mold.

But next time I saw these on shelves, I'll get it on the spot.

The right pectoral window on mine comes off quite easily. Is this common? Worth fixing or should i shoot for a replacement? Thanks!

For anyone that wanted a comparison with MP10V. They look pretty great together and are roughly around the same scale in alt mode before MP10V’s extending legs come into play in robot mode

It's funny to me that the Bayverse Prime that turned into a Marmon 97 in "Age of Extinction" turns into a 70s-era Freightliner in toy form, and the Knightverse Prime that turned into a 70s-era Freightliner in "Bumblebee" turns into a Marmon 97 in toy form.

Its because SS38 was designed off his concept art and not the movie design. They are close, but also very different.

Yep, in both cases I suspect the toys were designed before the movie had gotten far enough into production for the designers to know what the truck would look like beyond "cabover." So for "The Last Knight," the designers just went with the only real-world cabover Prime has ever been by that point, a 70s-era Freightliner. With "Bumblebee," the designers just went with the LAST real-world truck Prime had been: the Marmon 97 from "Last Knight".

I’ve seen the AOE truck listed as a Marmon COE #31 HDT-BC-86 and SS38 matches a lot of it’s details very specifically. The smokestacks and sun visors on the final robot mode design still resemble the Marmon more than the Freightliner so I think it’s safe to say he was meant to be Marmon until past the point of changing the cgi model to reflect the Freightliner.

I like the truck mode on this figure a lot. It’s become my favorite cab-over Prime alt mode to date. I think the Peterbilt is still my favorite overall but this one is excellent, especially in toy form!

I finally got this one this morning. It looks nice, but the soft tab connections that hold the cab and legs in place are really hindered by the cheaper plastics used now. He'll probably just be a display piece.

I'll probably splurge on other versions of this design, Weijiang, TW, 3A. I really appreciate that they are using designs that are more recognizable now. Even Animated, which was a heavily cartoonish fire truck, still looked like Optimus. Galaxy Convoy looked like Optimus, even powered up. Fire Convoy looked like Optimus in his smaller mode. Even Fatimus and Armada still looked like Optimus, with those design changes.

The first movie design was okay. It was close enough for the toys anyway. On screen it was too busy. Especially if I wanted to watch them at home without a 200 foot screen. I appreciate the Unique Toys Challenger as a beautifully engineered piece, but that movie design as OP always left me cold. He's more Toku than Optimus Prime to me.

Found this guy on clearance for $20, so couldn't pass him up. He's very cool. Only complaint is that he's kinda squat in the ab to hip area.

There's been scattered reports that SS voyagers are on clearance for $21 at various walmarts across the country. They are $21 in my area, but all that's out there for me is rampages.
