I guess. But Pearlman had already walked away when del Toro left cause the producers were already determined to go on some misadventure like this.
Hellboy BTS Drama Reportedly Involved Clashes Between Director & Producers Alas, what looked great on screen was masking a clash of production issues that may have crippled the film.
Yikes. I feel bad for those involved, but I can't really say I'm surprised -- this always looked and felt like a straight-to-DVD/VOD sequel to the previous movies.
so what is the plot? Fairy princess returning but also the whole "Hellboy is destined to end the world" thing that in the comics was a storyline related to other demons?
This is the comic it is taking inspiration from, I highly recommend it. Hellboy: The Wild Hunt - Wikipedia
here we are once again with an unnecessary r rated movie that's bombing. not everything needs to be r rated and this is yet more proof. it works for certain characters...the wolverines the deadpools the punishers the lobos fine but not everything. one successful r rated movie comes out and people think everything needs the word fuck it in it. i always roll my eyes hard at the people saying we NEED an r rated batman movie. it's like that power rangers fan movie that hit youtube a few years back. all of a sudden they're all jaded doing coke swearing and there's blood everywhere. guess what? it sucked too. there was a good idea and a decent story there but you didn't need to kill half of them off and have them all dropping f bombs every few lines. guess this was the case too..... hellboy isn't bloody violence and gore. hellboy has always been classic macabre horror not bloody gory horror. this was all wrong from the get go.
Curious, where does this saga which includes Wild Hunt begin and end? Should one just start from the beginning of the comic series? Like, it looks like Amazon has quite a few collections. Edit: Never mind. Just have to read every collection. Sounds good.
They're already trying to brush it off as a "TROUBLED PRODUCTION." 'Hellboy' Reboot's Fiery Shoot: Fights Over David Harbour, Cinematographer which is usually industry-code for "nobody knows what the fuck they're doing."
I saw this and thought it was pretty good! At least on par with the other Hellboy movies and Shazam and way better than Captain Marvel. I found out about the Rotten Tomatoes later on. Whilst I could see some of the usual things that would normally give some critic reviews negative feedback I don't see what was so bad about it? Compared to other supernatural action films with scores that low such as Underworld and Resident Evil I didn't like those movies and I enjoyed this much more than those.
Uh, you are correct, I swore though that when the first tidbits of Hellboy Reboot were being talked about, I read that Mike wanted to be more involved and to make it more like the comics, since he wasn't too happy with some of Del Toro's influences. Guess that ended pretty quickly.
Yeah, I remember reading that, too. I think that was before even pre-production began, though. I don't know what happened.
