I’m slowly building towards a MP lost light main cast shelf. I was shopping around my options on Ultra Magnus and am surprised at the lack of them. I’d like Magnus to ideally be taller then Optimus, but slightly shorter then say Overlord (I use Carnifex). There’s the MP-22/ or KO. Honestly this is way too cartoon accurate for me and the reviews I’ve seen show the articulation is mediocre. He’s also really blocky. Size is great though. KFC Citizen Stack looks awesome, is probably my favorite I can find, but he’s massive! Planet X just isn’t big enough and is very geared for the game, which it pulls off well. CW Ultra Magnus looks cool. I had this figure when I was doing a CHUG collection. He’s just not MP size or quality. GCreation teased a Magnus that’s I had high hopes for, but I don’t think it’s ever going to be made. That’s it! Basically two options. Am I missing anything? Are there any kits to make MP-22 less G1? Right now I think the best looking ones are legends scale. I feel like there is a big opportunity for a 3rd Party to give us a better option. MMC, Maketoys, Gen Toy, Fans Toys could all do well here. Or are enough people happy with MP-22?
I for one, want a MP Magnus that's even MORE G1, that works like Siege Magnus does. MP-10 with armor parts!
This would be my ideal figure as well. I just went down the Ultra Magnus a couple weeks ago and was surprised by the lack of figures as well. In the end I decided to go with a MP-22 KO by Toy House Factory that is said to have slight improvements over the original MP-22 and has a slightly different look as far as some coloring etc. If something else eventually gets released Toy House Factory could easily be replaced but at lease it fills that need for now for me. Toy House Factory THF-04 Ultra Magnus MP-22 Hyper Magnum
I actually think someone tried a shape ways add on for the white mp-10. I’d be happy if Magic Square took a shot at a MP scale of their legends version.
there are no good mp magnus options. takara's is both too fat and too tall and doesn't even have a waist swivel, so he 99% of the time looks lie immobile brick. stack is way too tall, and doesn't "fit" with mp aesthetics as well i used to think but at lesat he has a waist swivel. none of them have the prime in armor transformation i'd prefer. siege does and looks great but is too small, not g1 enough in alt mode and simply lacks that mp feel and look. yeah so...there in'st a dingle good mp magnus option. i'm surprised MS doesn't oversize their legends adn add features to make one.
Just tossing it out there, there is an add on kit for MP-22 that will give his arms some more shoulder articulation but I can't say if it's great or not. I remember when he came out it was a big deal for some people though. I got one but never bothered to install it to be honest
Ooh, or TE could do their Optimus in white and make an armor add-on. Or MS is already doing theirs in white so they could do an armor add-on for him. That would be pretty awesome.
I’d be down for an armor add on, I just pose my figures and take some pics every once in a while. Just want some that looks better, don’t care how it’s achieved lol.
I'd like that, but add-ons for toys that were intended as standalones are always dicey prospects for upgrading. Can they bear the weight? Do they have the proper attachement points? Do they still have meaningful articulation? If not you may as well stick with the MP or KFC versions.
I really love how THF improved and removed the atrocious butt flap and I was looking forward to own one in addition to my MP22. Unfortunately, I had to pass because I just can't stand the red flap attached to the missile launcher. They should have kept it as white like MP22. That red color just kill the alt.mode look, so distracting to the missile. Me too man! I have been asking since MP2 made his debut. Still no luck. Thanks goodness for Siege UM as a filler, consolation... I'm also shocked that no one dared to take on MP UM since Stack who was no where near G1 in term of aesthetic. Then when you looked at bots like Jazz or Springer, there are at least 4+ versions of them granted there is no official one yet....and each one looks great.
Makes sense. And I've already got the THF version and don't care enough to invest in a MS01 and armor upgrade.
I just want THF to release theirs in Delta Magnus colours. I might be the only person in the world who'd buy it, but I'd buy the heck out of it.
I keep meaning to buy MP-22 but then never do. Then I thought I'd get the Toyhouse Factory KO but never did, and after finally watching a video of the KO and seeing the transformation in full (I usually avoid doing so until after I get a figure because "spoilers"), I decided that I really didn't like that mould. I feel like TakaraTomy started with a good idea and then just kinda ruined it (which is an apt comparison for the entire Masterpiece line, since Hasui started designing MP-22 and then Kobayashi did the rest of the design). Citizen Stack just looks wrong to me (and that's aside from the absurd size/proportion issues), and he's really the only other option for a Masterpiece collection, so if you don't like either of those options, then you're out of luck right now (unless you want to deal with that 3D-printed kit, which is pretty impressive but isn't exactly straight-forward). I'm not completely attached to the white Prime in armour idea, in that I'm okay with MP-22's integrated approach, but I think we need a happy medium. That is, instead of doing something like Siege Ultra Magnus, where it's basically an armour kit, we should have the Magnus cab folded into a cube like Powermaster Optimus Prime (and similar to G1 Ultra Magnus, minus the legs hanging down), thus allowing unrestricted movement in the arms, legs and waist. This would still allow for a standalone Magnus truck cab and robot, even allow a similar integrated transformation as MP-22 whilst simplifying the torso section, but also allowing the articulation to be unimpeded. But with all that being said, I'm not convinced anyone is going to do a new Masterpiece-style Ultra Magnus any time soon. Most companies seem to fear competing with MP-22, especially now that there is a cheap KO on the market, but I'm honestly just eager to see someone else have a go.
