Thanks for the info! I did the same and also tried the other way...nothing worked for me at HLJ and I had a similar experience at CDJ. For NY, they seem to load each item manually because you can see them go up one at a time, starting around 4 pm jst. They guy doing it probably has a break in between so the time varies...it could be early if he is trying to get out on a date or drag on. LOL. For Amazon, I suppose it is similar to US Amazon and an online store that large with that many items has a certain process that takes longer to get things posted. ANime Export, I'm not sure what their deal is but they do tend to post all preorders for a day at once and sometimes it takes them longer to prepare them all. They still haven't posted the latest preorders yet so it will likely come by tonight.
That's weird. It must have sold out super quick then because I was f5ing like a mofo. When it finally came up for me, there was only 2
yeah, I forgot but I found the listing before it even had a countdown but still wasn't able to get one.
I think if you display them in the back of a shelf with subtle, non-direct light, it will look best. The main thing that throws it off is the difference in plastic quality.
Ahhhh....gotcha. That makes total sense. Thanks! Yeah, I'll have to play with that. Glad you went the same route before me and have some recommendations and why it didn't work for you.
lol I wish that it was weird. If a preorder lasts over a minute that's long in my book for Macross. During the frontier days a preorder closed in 30 seconds or less.
Yeah me neither Well, I guess the VF-1J ordering debacle spoiled me since I had the availability to get one on AJ and they had it available for a long ass time. I should have kept in mind the success of it and how awesome the 1J is and how Max is a highly desirable character. Reading everyone's past commentary on previous Bandai Macross ordering experiences have kept me away from even bothering But since I collect VF-1s...and Bandai made such a damn good toy that beats out the 1/48 Yammies I got...I couldn't resist. Now I can say...I fully understand all y'alls frustrations to the fullest
At this rate Bandai will stage an actual death match where the winners get tickets that allow them three chances at preordering the DX Roy. Losers get buried/cremated with a DX Roy.
We've seen several versions of Hikaru's 1J released in recent years...1/60, 1/100 (2 types), 1/48. Max's 1A hasn't been released in any form by anyone reputable (Yamacadia/Bandai) for 10 years.
Don’t test me I’ll fight for that Roy /Sarcasm But seriously this really worries me as I gave up a preorder for the 1J thinking I’d just snag a Roy later...
EMS, HLJ and Amiami won't insure the whole thing most of the time for Valks unless they're under $60-100. Plus EMS is faster. If that thing is still in your cart, I would check out now if you haven't already been cartjacked. Keep in mind, last night was the just the 1st night of the preorder. Max's VF-1A isn't as popular as Hikaru's VF-1J. The sellouts could've been from any number of reasons. In addition, it seemed that Bandai knew well ahead of time that the DX VF-1J was going to sell well because preorder night went a lot smoother and preorders reopened up at a few stores a time least 5x before release. Not to mention, stores like Amiami were limiting orders to 2 a household whereas with the DX VF-1A Max they were limiting to 1. If this initial run is smaller than Hikaru's, that could explain the much faster sellout. Hopefully Bandai can guage current demand and etailers can allocate more units for preorder before release. You also have fans who wanted Hikaru's VF-1J but missed out and didn't want to miss out on a DX VF-1, so they got the next best thing(this DX VF-1A). I would keep your eyes peeled on bookmarked links in the meantime. If there really are buyer bots out there, the best thing to implement might be a prepaid lottery system(some shoe companies do this to counter bot-buyers and have been successful with it). Cartjacked twice last night on the verge of paying but oh well. This was a lot tougher to preorder compared to Chuck's Siegfried, Hikaru's VF-1J and Hikaru's VF-4. I don't think this is a sign of the future. Bandai knows Skull 1 will sell just as they knew Hikaru's VF-1J will sell. To me, signs point to a shorter initial run for the VF-1A Max, not so much more demand than Hikaru's VF-1J. Yea once the HG license dies, we at the very least ought to be able to get Macross toys through Bluefin. Also these sellouts NEVER happen for Toynami/Robotech branded toys, so if there was any doubt for Japanese Macross product....
2002 initially then again in 2008. 2002-2004 reissues: VF-1J Hikaru VF-1J Max VF-1J Milia VF-1A Hikaru DYRL? VF-1A mass production VF-1S Focker Special VF-1S Super Valkyrie 2008 "Origin Of Valkyrie" reissues: DYRL? VF-1A Hikaru Super Valkyrie DYRL? VF-1A Max Super Valkyrie VF-1S Focker Special VF-1J Hikaru Sadly these reissues did not sell well in Japan either in 2002, nor 2008. Most fans were instead opting to go the Yamato route with the 1/48 and 1/60 VF-1's. Bandai and Toynami had a short-lived Toynami Tamashii partnership where Toynami was distributing Bandai product stateside. There was a plan to make 1/55 VF-1 repaints with new heads in Robotech packaging (toys made by Bandai, boxes by Toynami) with a 1/55 VF-1D shown at SDCC. However Bandai pulled out of the project. No, standard release True, 17 seconds for Alto's DX VF-171, I remember that night and how pissed the old crew was in this thread. Then it turned out to not be worth it because that damned toy is a screen-accurate lemon. Shame because I love the freaking onscreen design. Last meal is a pineapple salad I would think Kakizaki for TamashiiWeb and Focker Special for a standard release before the end of the year. Total curveball if the mass production VF-1A or VF-1D get thrown into the mix. Seems like the focus is on the main heroes(Vermillion Team and Roy) but hard to tell with only 2 releases. I have a feeling the next DX VF-1 will be revealed at that Kawamori expo event, if not Tokyo Toy Show.
As a consolation prize for coming up empty last night, my coworker returned from Japan and brought my HMR VF-4 Lightning III. Hard to complain about not getting that shiny new Macross toy when I have a shiny new Macross toy in-hand.
Anyone with an extra PO DX MAX let me know. I have an SOC Voltron PO that we could work something out let me know. Or MP44 if you are into that.
That is a shame... Wish I bought all of the 02 rereleases past the 1J. I forgot about them after that so never picked up the rest. I liked that mold over the newer stuff. Including the terrible Toynami Robotech stuff I bought and sold. Thanks for that info on the Ban Dai stuff!
If that's going to be the case with, or indicative of this line, then I'm seriously considering getting out. I have the preorder of Rick's VF-1J with the flight stand, unopened and untouched and I think I'll move it on. I don't want to have to battle to get the handful of characters I liked from the series.
