Waiting on one of these MMC dudes to post about the set split... Certainly they must be having a hard time moving units?
    Or.
I'm also looking forward to one of these MMC dudes telling me that they're selling great and not providing any numbers.

Honestly I think I'd be down for an Autotrooper as well... At that point I'd have to sell off a few Guzzles! I don't know why MMC is so reliant on "if it ain't marketable to Geewun it won't sell."
Save that for the Ocular Max stuff.... And make a damn Rung for crying out loud.

But don't put that Rung in a two back with Outback

As much as I'd like them to split the pack and would be okay paying even $80 (reluctantly, but still) for Guzzle himself, I doubt it'll happen.

As for the G1 appeal, it's to get the sales numbers up. IDW is a niche which isn't big enough to sustain itself, especially for some of the more niche characters, so having that G1 appeal helps these sell.
Look at Supermax, for example - a lot of sales were missed because it didn't have the G1 Headmaster option like Perfect Effect Warden, and whilst I'd prefer they kept that out of it, sales would go up because of people who are just into the G1 aspect.

Don't get me wrong, I don't like it myself, but it's just the reality of the market. Heck, third-party is already a niche market, so we're talking about a niche within a niche, potentially within yet another niche. It's not a huge market, unfortunately, and you're also missing a good chunk of the Chinese and even Japanese audience, which is always a fairly sizeable customer base.

This was why I got into customizing. There's a good Shapeways 2-part kit to make Pyro out of PotP Inferno somewhere in the Steam Shield's Bot Foundry store. You have to sink a little money into dremels and pin punches and paint sprayers, etc, but if you're buying 3Ps, you're probably not afraid of spending money. Just grab some junker figures and do some test painting first.

I think the general consensus is we'd all rather pay $15-$20 more for JUST Guzzle, and not $60 more for something we couldn't even sell for $20.
We'll have to disagree on why Super Max failed. I believe it has more to do with this stigma the fandom has with crowd funding from the Unrustables thing. G1 has nothing to do with it. If those folks wanted a headmaster, the TR one Is still out there...

But I definitely agree. The third party market is a niche market, within a relatively small fandom (compared to some of the Giants out there).
End of the day I feel that they're losing out on more sales due to this two pack, even if they sold Guzzle alone at $75.

I think you misunderstood me - I fully agree with you on Supermax failing due to a crowdfund stigma, but just looking at that thread, it's evident that there are also a decent number of people who would be interested in buying one if it had ANY G1 styling or gimmicks (such as Warden's Headmaster gimmick), and you can bet there's a large chunk of the Chinese market who feel the same way since they tend to prefer G1 and (for some godforsaken reason) the movies.

I'm saying it's more than just one issue that led to Supermax's (round one) demise, including the fact that Warden exists (and some people did buy Warden just because of the Headmaster gimmick where you can use him with G1 Fort Max, even though I personally saw the appeal despite loving G1 Fort Max and Headmasters in general).

And again, I do agree that it's rather silly wanting G1 things from an IDW figure, but that's just how this fickle fandom is, so... yeah.

Count me in for wanting Autotroopers, I have 10 prime vehicons (2 fe, 3 standard, 3 jet, 2 generals) I would PO two 3-packs on the spot (and probably get another 3-pack on sale later).

for a company so allegedly invested in what the fans want, mmc has been practicing some really bad business of late. i used to be their biggest proponent, telling people on the con floor to trust them and their products. not so much anymore.

Let the three pack concept catch on, it’s better than the long arm.

Haven't watch Animated so wasn't familiar with the Autotroopers. The concept seems nice and I could use some canonfodder for the Decepticons.

If we get Autotroopers, MMC needs a mold to repaint as TFPrime Vehicons.

I just don't expect MMC to make a Prime Vehicon-specific mold (as cool as that would be). Give us something, and if the shoe fits, give us a repaint.

But first. Autotroopers. I'm becoming more infatuated with that idea the more I hear it.

Waaaaay too early for that. Wait till black Friday 2019 or 2020, then they will start liquidating these for a reasonable price, just like they did for their insecticons, cause it too wouldnt sell...

That said, i am surprised the same didnt happen to MMC Cyclonus.... I guess fans bought that thing afterall... even with all the hate... so there is a chance the same will happen to Guzzle two pack as well, ie no sale cause fans keep supporting it.

Well this 2 pack with Brawn stuff is lame and may knock me out of buying Guzzle. I have great Brawn, just wanted Guzzle. When will they learn people dont want to waste hard earned moneys.

I had a fleeting thought that, since these guys are small enough, Brawn could fit in with my Legends display... He'd look good next to guys like Iron Factory Warpath and Shapeshift Ironhide.

But then I remembered that Iron Factory figures this size run $30-$40, not $60.

This set would have to come down to at LEAST $100 for me to even consider that.
