    Sure, 'irrelevant'.
Until you realize he shared scenes with the greatest female character in the Bayverse! :)

    I very agree.
Bumblebee was a terrible movie. As was Bayverse 2007. As were all Bayverses. But most TF fans refuse to acknowledge this.
The fans walked out of 2007 movie swallowing the hype and praising it to kingdom come. So Hasbro continued the same production films. Some aspects were better, some worse, but they were all bad films.

The films weren't really getting worse, the fans just lost patience and were recognizing the later instalments as bad, while refusing to say the same of the earlier films which they'd seen in the theatre 6, 7 times.

So Hasbro made Bumblebee different. They removed some awful Bayverse aspects, ...as well as some good. They improved some other goods and made some bads even worse.

So just like 2007, the fans swallowed the hype and loved the movie, praising it to kingdom come. Again confusing 'different' to mean good.

So I agree, mon ami, TF fans have no idea what makes a good movie.

I don't consider making Bumblebee a moronic buffoon and only whiny Charlie speaking in their scenes, to be a safe movie. I consider that a terrible movie.

    Really?
    Please elaborate! :)

Considering this fanbase has been as vocal in their hatedom of the previous films as the Star Wars prequel haters, can you blame Hasbro/Paramount?

No I really don’t think that’s the case at all if you really think Bee has any closeness in lack-of-quality with the shit show that came before it.

I truly believe that, you believe that you know what makes a good movie, and ignoring subjectivity, and treating it as a reason why you know what makes a good film but not others is, both arrogant, but also completely wrong - both because the opinion is incorrect, but also because your reasoning for it is as well.

I’m pretty sure I can trust a huge positive reaction (even on stupid Rotten Tomatoes) over some guy on TFW2005, when it comes to the quality of film that Bee was.

But thanks for playing. Nothing but love.

It’s a good thing that this board isn’t a writers room of sorts....we’d get the worst film yet in the franchise as some folks can’t let the Bayverse die.

It's worrying how many ideas for a sequel to explain why Charlie wouldn't be in it is "SHE DIED GIVING BIRTH" it's like...there's something there, some deep psychological thing that users on this site need to get over mayhaps.

I think you need a Bex and a lay down mate.

Anyway, I agree that Charlie’s story was resolved nicely. A future cameo would be nice but she and Bumblebee have moved on. New POV character time.

I disagree that Bumblebee was safe. I can't think of another modern franchise movie (of this sort) that lacks action beats during the entire second act (aside from that 10 second flashback). You certainly don't see that in something like Marvel or Star Wars. Generally, movies about action properties aren't given this sort of structure. Also, the filmmakers chose to make the main villains new characters instead of safe choices like Starscream or Soundwave. Not to mention 90% of the movie is focused on a mute character, which in itself is somewhat tricky to pull off. Ironically, the Cybertron stuff is probably the safest aspect of the movie.

For all intents and purposes, I actually think the Bay movies are safer than Bumblebee. They generally stick to the same structure and story beats, which in itself is fairly generic for action movies. There's a video where RedLetterMedia watched all three at the same time on separate TVs (before AOE), and it was uncanny how closely they mirrored each other. Action scenes at the same timecodes, romance scenes at the same timecodes, etc. He essentially took the same mold, and used it to make each movie. Bumblebee completely overthrows that mold.

Oh Bumblebee was very safe. No denying that. It ticked off every box of a my alien/robot buddy n me romp that comprised E.T., Mac and Me, Iron Giant, Short Circuit, Chappie, Big Hero 6, etc.

    Lands on Earth.
Runs afoul of evil, incompetent government official types
Sympathetic person finds them and offers them shelter and friendship
    *gasp* PERIL! Oh noez!
    New friend saves their ass
    Poignant teary-eyed moments
If you love something set it free...at sunset apparently.

    Doesn't mean it wasn't entertaining.

Its the star wars effect. Need to focus on someone's children? Just kill off the mother and then time skip. No idea why its the first idea people get for this.... Especially since they can easily set it like 2 years after the last one and they can simply meet again.

It’s not that there’s anything wrong with it, it’s just boring. They need to focus less on human characters and their relationship with giant robots. Maybe it shoulda been a Kodiak bear, or something, that Bumblebee befriended, thinking it was a human. Yes. A Kodiak bear.

Way to insult thousands upon thousands of people, many of whom probably love lots of great films that have nothing to do with giant transforming warrior robots. (My Top Ten includes The Shawshank Redemption, A Hard Day's Night, Black Panther....)

Remember, folks...it's Settled Internet Law that People Like What They Like. (Judge John Hodgman rules. That Is All.)

Um apparently you didnt seem to notice....THE DECEPTICONS OUTNUMBERED THE AUTOBOTS ON CYBERTRON.
"Then when they get to Earth they're complete bumbling idiots that don't know how to fight. They always just stand there & let Bumblebee climb all over them until he rips them apart & kills them. " Seems you didn't see any of these scenes

Just because you hate the character of Bumblebee doesn't mean you have to hate everything associated in this film including the characters within it.

Completely agree. Some people may have liked Bumblebee, but it was not the safe mold.

Nice list. Mine is Army of Darkness, Hudson Hawk, Street Fighter (live action), Superman (79), Masters of the Universe (live action). Giant transforming robots rounds it out.
