I think the next Transformers movie should be a reboot, and not be connected to Bayformers or Bumblebee, the reason I say not connected to Bumblebee is because we don't if it's a reboot or not. So I say start over completely and just make the next Transformers movie the reboot.

Just do a live action version of the '86 movie and we're good.

Agreed 100%. I'm not sure why this isn't happening.

EDIT: Oh, yes... Lorenzo. That's why.

I think it's more like Hasbro is saying it's a reboot and Paramount is like no, it's not and seeing as Lorenzo's office is at Paramount he's on their side.

To be serious for a moment, the real reason he keeps flip-flopping is that they haven't decided yet.

This is how they handled all the movies so far - they don't plan ahead, they have people submit scripts and they film the ones they like. It's also why the continuity is such a mess. Even when movies set up sequels - like AoE - they don't actually know how they're going to resolve the plot points. Ehren Kruger's the only guy who knows where he was going to take the Creator plotline, and even so when he was interviewed after AoE came out he only said he had 'a few ideas'. I guarantee you that even when they thought a sequel to TLK was a lock they didn't actually know what it was going to be about. That was a problem for later.

To be perfectly fair, Kruger admitted in an interview that he doesn't even outline his scripts, which I find...worrying.

According to Lorenzo in the GameSpot interview, he called the next movie a “reboot” in the universe that Bumblebee set up.

But I definitely get what you mean though.

    I don't understand:

So it's not the terrible box office from TLK that makes Paramount disinterested in hiring Bay? It's that Bay refused to lose more money for the studio? :lol

Isn't that like getting dumped by a girl and then telling everyone you were just about to dump her anyway because you were done doing that?

Like walking into an empty toy aisle and then telling your wife you weren't really interested in buying a toy today, anyway?

Yeah, I like the Bay designs more.
Maybe they'll have Unicron and/or some of those characters in the Beeverse...

Seems my posts completely disappeared from here before i even got a chance to look at the responses I gave. Not exactly thrilled with my opinion being completely silenced like that.

I think it was less your opinions being silenced and more the fact you were outright attacking other users.

But here's what I posted in response to your post to me, it's the top section of what I'm linking here.

Yeah, I quite liked the irony of claiming fans that were happy with a reboot were somehow insulting fans of the Bayverse films and wishing them ill will whilst calling them entitled and selfish and basically wishing them and the new universe ill will.

Was some nice little bundled up hypocrisy.

That's illogical, though - TLK nearly bankrupted Paramount and even people who fully support the first four films are 100% against TLK as a film. There legitimately isn't even enough support among people who like the bayfilms to even suggest continuing that failed plotline would make a fraction of what TLK did.

Furthermore, it makes no sense that Hasbro would virtually confirm that Bumblebee is its own separate continuity and still allow the bay films to continue on. Hasbro is very aware of the problems of trying to sell multiple versions of the same character (because somehow people keep forgetting Hasbro is a toy company) and trying to run two movie continuities would be an utter shitshow. Hell, just to cite a good example, the entire reason that the Universe 2.0 Deluxe Ratchet back in the late 2000s was in the final wave and thus one of the rarest figures? Because Animated Ratchet was already out at shelves and Hasbro didn't want people getting confused about which Ratchet was which since they share the same name and colors.

Bumblebee has gotten rave reviews, especially compared to the bay films, so it would be insane to think there is any remaining interest, Lorenzo aside, from trying to continue in the face of the biggest hollywood disaster in the past decade, when instead they could just ditch all the bullshit caused by the bayverse to start fresh with a strong start through Bumblebee.

Here's what I think is happening, seeing how there are no Transformers set to release/be made yet, if Hasbro still wants to make a Cinematic Universe and the first movie might be the G.I. Joe/Snake Eyes film maybe they are waiting to see how that does along with the Micronauts and D&D films, and maybe the animated MLP reboot film. So it could be they don't have a plan for Transformers movies yet, there might be some ideas for future movies but they might not want to rush to make another Transformers film, just in case the upcoming movies which might start their Cinematic Universe do well in theater, and if they don't then they might do what Lorenzo di Bonaventura says they might do.
