I don't think it's that. I think it's a combination of the main designers from it no longer on the brand and the current budget not being enough to make it on parity with what we had(and frankly what Hasbro did in 2008 with that line was ahead of its time IMO). Meanwhile I do think we will see some homages in the next few years but with realistic styling. For example, a WFC Starscream in part 2 or 3 with an alt mode based on Animated Starscream. Kind of how like RTS Lugnut was a CHUG version of Animated Lugnut.

I have the very same thoughts. Not that it makes things better, but most non-G1 stuff largely gets ignored (not just Animated). But things are changing! With the arrival of Siege Ultra Magnus (homage to RID Magnus), Siege Optimus Prime (homage to Cybertron Prime), Siege Barricade (movie-verse), Impactor (Marvel UK/IDW-verse) and Armada Convoy (new mold!), it looks like Hasbro and Takara are finally taking bigger bites from non-G1 eras.

I like it when non-G1 characters get folded into Generations (pseudo-G1). Stuff like Cheetor in Cyberverse is a really nice surprise. I'm optimistic about the future!

Omega Supreme from Chosen Prime. Which is good, because I can pay him off way before his release.

I know this is probably such a weird detail to pick up on, but I LOVE the rear of Prowl's alt mode. There's things that bug me about the alt mode, such as that crazy low roof (makes perfect sense for a Cybertronian vehicle mode really) and the clear plastic wheels, but I still really love it. It really captures that late 70's/early 80's, smooth curves. aesthetic. Bluestreak's going to look stunning!
