Too plausible. The Helex remold was obviously not real.

I'm so glad that this is back on! Although, I wish MMC would just take a chance and produce it. These crowdfunds play with my emotions too much!

I would prefer that MMC make the figure physically smaller to bring the costs down then lose the articulation gimmicks. I do think if the fig comes in at under $200 that would help sales.

I didn’t know we were back in action. Is it going to be a crowdfund again or will it be a full release? Either way you have my full support.

So glad to see this project is still going ahead. I assumed the April Fool's thing was a hint at it (as Rick had already told us they were looking into other ways of making it happen) but I'm glad they wasted no time after that stupid day was over to actually give us confirmation (even if they were perhaps a bit too eager with the unfinished images).

I'd second @kukuburd's idea of just calling it a pre-order instead of a crowdfund this time, though. Not sure how well that would work but I think we all learnt how skeptical people are of crowdfund s last time, even from a fairly reputable company like MMC. It seems the MAAS Toys Tetrajets in particular have really put a damper on the fan base for crowdfunds, which is a damn shame.
Full agreed, I love that aspect of the shoulder design. It feels absolutely necessary to me.
Hydra's height is pretty much perfect for Supermax, but I would add that it's a bit hard to accurately judge based on your photos (even with the ruler) because they're angled from below. You need to take straight-on photos, especially for the ruler to line up correctly.
I didn't notice until today but they're saying a second crowdfund.

Yeah, you're right, those pictures were entirely unhelpful. Pull out a Fans Toys Hydra or a ruler and you have the idea.

Crowdfund 2 once mmc's proto is ready to reveal and they've figured out what the price point and supporter number needs to be this time.

I didn't say that, I'm just saying that it's hard to get an exact measurement from a ruler when the photos with it are taken from a an angle. That's all.

I legitimately agreed with you when I looked at the photos again and didn't want to give people a skewed sense of scale.

Okay, that's fine then. I thought you were being sarcastic. No hard feelings either way.

I would like to third the idea of just making it a pre-order. The greatest benefit to doing that would be that it would allow all the major 3rd party retailers (BBTS, TFSource, Chosen Prime, etc.) to carry the product. That alone should increase the numbers. If it doesn't get enough pre-orders then MMC can cancel it.

Seems a good point. I 'fourth' this.

The crap some companies release (froggy-brawn?) and yet this design has to be crowdfunded? I don't get it.

Haha, I remember seeing that damn Brawn two-pack and the news about Supermax being prototyped at the same time.

I was like "how does MMC simultaneously give us awesome news and terrible news?"
I swear, it's such a roller coaster with this company. Still, it could be a lot worse than it is.

Also support the suggestion of making it a pre-order, and not a crowd fund.

There are many who dislike or distrust crowd-funds. Making it a "pre-order under condition of..." is guaranteed to bring in more buyers.

I remember a time when MMC only gave us awesome news, and when they were my favorite 3rd party company.

If they make it a preorder and then have to cancel it I think people will be way more pissed than with a failed crowdfunding. I'm not sure it would be a smart move.

    Here’s an idea:

Do the Rodimus retool into Getaway. Sell Getaway with Guzzle.

I am honestly really scratching my head as to why he hasn’t happened yet? I think this would have been the first, extremely-take-my-money decision they could have made with that mold ... but .... ? ? ?

Or how about this MMC? Do a crowd fund for that Brawn. See how many backers you end up with compared to FortMax : )

I'll fifth this. MMC needs to take a chance if they want this to happen.

The failure of the last kickstarter is gonna be a cloud over the whole enterprise. Yes, a lower price and physical prototype are positive developments, but it's already been proven that there isn't "enough support" (as defined by MMC) to crowdfund this exclusively through the PSX store. Asking all 400-something early supporters to once again tie up their money for several months, is gonna be an uphill battle. The "wad has been shot" so to speak.

Mind you, I do think there is sufficient demand for this figure to make it successful, and I will throw my own support behind another kickstarter if that's the only viable path forward. But I'm not entering round 2 with a whole lot of optimism.

Agreed. I'm going to back the project no matter what but they should just throw it up for pre-order.

Edit: Man, I'm so excited that this is back on and that we are getting a Steam Robo figure! Is anybody else looking forward to Steam Robo?

But then they could have it run longer AND attract more people (there are a ton of people, especially outside of TFW, who were ultimately displeased and put off by it being a crowd fund).
I don't think cancelling pre-orders would be the end of the world, anyway. People would still get their money back. I just highly doubt another crowd fund will have more success than the previous one (and the previous one barely got over halfway to the goal after it was lowered multiple times).
