Even appears to still have those stickers everyone "loves" for the trailer, too.

 

I'll admit, this looks nicer than I was expecting because even as a gray prototype, the retool of POTP OP was clearly obvious, but still... Hard pass.

If anything, I decided to give up collecting Prime figures because I have too many, and need to focus on other characters.

So it will take something more remarkable to make me break that commitment .

 

Holy crap, Action Master Optimus is the inner bot!

 

The small Prime looks like Ginrai, but with yellow eyes to homage the Actionmaster version.

Honestly, going for Powermaster Optimus as a retool to have a regular to Super Ginrai to supplement the Super to God Ginrai Takara made would have been the best route to take.

 

Maybe if you squint really hard. His colors aren’t even the same as Action Master OP.

 

After seeing the Star Convoy pictures, I'd be more interested in owning Guiltaur (and/or a POTP Optimus remold that evolves from False Convoy into Guiltaur) or a Shattered Glass redeco instead.

It's fitting that Actionmaster Optimus is the inner bot. The last form he had in US G1 turns into the last form he had in Japanese G1.

 

He's definitely inspired by AM OP though.

 

Okay so we all know Star Convoy has new inner and outer heads, inner chest, chest star thing, and matrix, but I JUST noticed the shoulders guns, outer abs, inner and outer waists, inner calves, AND inner arms. With this level of remolding I feel they could have reallocated their resources to make him more Star Convoy esque. They could have gone about this so much better.

 

He looks like Action Master Optimus Prime to me.

 

Other than the fact that both toys are meant to represent Optimus Prime, I’m not seeing much of a resemblance. By that logic, he also looks just like the inner robot for Powermaster Optimus Prime.

 

A red Matrix. Hmm.
Is that supposed to reference something, or is it just because every PotP Leader has to have a differently-coloured Matrix?

Alt mode is a huge letdown and makes it a pass for me. The thing I loved the most about the original g1 toy was the futuristic truck mode.

They should have remolded the TR UM into Star Convoy (it's even got an integrated cab and trailer) and used POTP Optimus to make PM Prime/God Ginrai. I get the impression that communication and planning at Hasbro and Takara has room for improvement...

 

I had the same idea myself for Guiltar. They can make his core robot Starscream.

Not a bad way to use the regular POTP Optimus cab.

I wouldn't be shocked if that did happen. They love making their cab robots to the point of making one into a movie/G1 hybrid.

 

I've been wondering how it is that people are claiming an Action Master homage out of this, myself. At the very least, those forearms should be blue!

Anybody expecting a more star convoy styled alt mode was setting themselves up for disappointment

 

There was at least one guy (not sure if it was in this thread or not) saying something like "they could have at least remolded the vehicle mode to be more like Star Convoy," and I'm thinking "how? That was a long-nosed cab! You couldn't do that and retain the combining gimmick!"
