I like how, despite being designed from the ground-up just for this appearance, Super Megatron's design is just as internally mass-shifty as his original animated design. His big, thick shins flatten into that little stick underneath, his forearms seem to vanish, and somehow his fusion cannon forms almost the entire space ship fuselage.

 

ah makes sense, i guess i don't know the proper term for a regular semi who's engine placement is similar to that of a regular car where its in front of the engine. But OG Star Convoy had a tractor trailer style front. Point im making is its still not quite correct and the fact that its a bit of a hasty retool is showing in that regards

 

And this image makes me think a voyager figure with snap on armor would be perfect for Super Megatron. The teased reveal image could be just the base voyager figure, though realistically it will probably just be a voyager with no leader armor.

 

I'll probably get it for the small Prime figure. However, It is impossible to unsee the original POTP Prime beneath the retooling. Looks like Prime put on a Halloween costume IMHO. Will wait to have it in hand to see if I have to eat crow!  

 

I don't like the rounded toes on Galvatron, I hope they square them off to better match the original Super Megs design.

Im concerned I still see too much of Galvatron in that silhouette to be happy with the final product, but hopefully I'm wrong.

I can't say I'm impressed with Star Convoy (especially with his chest), which is a shame because I quite like his headsculpt.

Good question. If they were to give him a western name, I would suggest something like "Battlestar Optimus Prime".

 

If Perfect Effect made a new cab figure to look like the original truck, better more Star Convoy-y chest panels, and a piece to plug into the front of the trailer so it hangs over the cab this thing could be salvagable.

Now that I think about it...it's sooo close but just too far off...

 

I was looking forward to Star Convoy when he was first shown off,only to be underwhelmed by the final product. I get that there's only so much of the POTP Optimus design that Takara can modify,but the least they could have done was redeco the trailer in white and blue. As a toy that evolves from a G1-style Optimus into Star Convoy, the combined proportions look too weird to me. He has these huge gangly arms and thin,tiny legs that make him look like a gorilla. I'm more interested in Super Megatron and Turtler/Snaptrap, myself.

Yeah I noticed they didn’t bother remolding the legs from the looks of things.

 

So what about the tf armada prime tho?

 

Not entirely sure why they remolded so much on Star Convoy, yet not the chest windows. Now he doesn’t really work imo.

Still, very interested in seeing Super Megatron and Seacons!  

 

I can’t help but get the feeling that’s going to be apart of some sort of anniversary line since Armada’s going to be turning 20 in a few years.

 

What I find sort of interesting about this Star Convoy remold is that, with the exception of the smaller Convoy's arms and chestplate tucked up behind the cab, he seems virtually indistinguishable from the original release in vehicle mode. But then you transform him...

 

Wow, the vehicle mode it's barely any different than POTP Optimus. For an updated Star Convoy, this just isn't what I was hoping for here.
