Yeah, I'm excited to get the metallic. I just noticed the yellow details on the forearms aren't there, and I like those so I'll have to paint them on, but that's WAY easier than going in and painting all those white areas silver like I thought I'd have to. Like you, #Flesh Creature I don't like my MPs to be be so literal to the toon. Or any Transfomers toy. I only got MP Megatron once it was available in silver, which was sadly only a KO. And I bet this metallic will go great with it.
And there's no guarantee that there will be an official MP Prime V3 in a nice metallic to go with it. They may do a full toy repaint like Megatron, but.... that's not exactly what I want either, which is neither full toon nor full toy, but that old Hasui vision of both plus reality.

I think it will too. I really wish MP-36 was the same silver finish as MP-5 with the red inner legs. I do like the Magten KO colors also. Shame it has to be a KO.

I missed the fact that they omitted the yellow. They fixed the major shortcoming of the first release only to add another. Now, I will most likely give this a pass as MP10 is ultimately fine.

 

That metallic repaint is freakin' sweet but they really should paint the yellow parts on his arms too. (Although the selfish part of me is glad they didn't because at least I can't say it's objectively better than the original one I have, LOL... and I don't like the metallic one so much better that I'd take an L on my OG one to buy it)

 

I have to say that if you think MP10 is fine... Don't EVER get either this or the Transform Element in hand, because MP-10 just doesn't hold up against either of them in either mode. (Granted, it's roughly a decade old)

Comparing this to MP10... makes MP10 look like the 3rd party repro. Either this or TE-01 kills MP10 based on toon accuracy alone. Not even counting the other stuff.

 

A better build with a crappy paint job cannot hold up to the classic. New is not necessarily the same as better.

 

Hyper toon accuracy is not what many people, myself included, are necessarily looking for. TE looks decent enough, MS has a better build, but I am not seeing enough impetus to change for the sake of changing. And the new v3 from TT looks like a train wreck (gave its soul for toonishness)

 

Depends on your definition of a classic figure. I reckon a fair few wouldn't put mp10 in that category.

If you do then there's little point posting in either this or the TE thread, just enjoy the ol' gorilla instead  

 

I don't really collect MP. I only have 2 MP figures. But I may crack and get this. I've been eyeing this figure for a while now. The only thing I didn't like was how matt the colors were. Now we get the same great design but shinier.

 

Surprisingly, TFSource just got the white version in today before the other NA retailers. And apparently I had forgotten I had it stacked with them.

 

Wow, metallic looks pretty nice. I chose TE for my MP Prime but the metallic MS01 looks like he'd make a nice addition to my Optimus/Megatron shelf. Not sure I'll pull the trigger but I'm tempted. Now whichever company is the first to do a full on "toy" version with the chrome waist and thighs, toy inspired head sculpt, the forearm and knee paint apps, oh and glossy red and blue paint will definitely get my money, whether that's TE, MS, or a KO of TT.

MS-01 isn't hyper toon accurate; that's not what I like either. And I agree the official MP-10 is better painted than MS-01 (at least the Takara version which is fully-finished; the Hasbro version isn't)... but the SCULPT though! MP-10 has weird gorilla proportions that initially turned me off enough to avoid it until I saw it in person for $100 at Toys R Us. There is NO QUESTION his proportions are wrong. The chest windows are rectangles instead of squares. The legs are blocky and the wheels are clumsily covered. The thighs are so short it's silly. MS-01 fixes everything wrong with MP-10's proportions... and the X version does seem to have as nice a deco as, at the very least, the Hasbro MP-10.

And that's not even getting into articulation, which is on a completely different level. MP-10 is like a classic Star Wars figure compared to a GI Joe in that regard. MS-01 can do any pose. He has a full bicep curl and a full kneel. He has forward and back ab crunch and shoulder butterfly joints. Its got a great ankle pivot that doesn't break the sculpt. It has individually-articulated fingers and an independent toe and heel along with the ankle articulation. This thing can pose. AND it's extremely well-balanced!

 

Okay I’m glad they did this. Looks way nicer compared to the first release. Still hoping they do a comic book version.
