Hmmm interesting development! I just cant see it looking as good as the renders anymore, but I guess less transformation cheating and less cost is good overall.

I guess they looked at DX9's and thought huh the trailer actually turns into menasor instead of just holding the parts - nice trick we'll do that too! But I presume if true their trailer must now be a mess of splits, seams and hinges like DX9's? Base mode presumably now has to be more of an afterthought of partially opened up menasor-trailer-thing rather than the simple opened up trailers of the renders. Probably more chance it's a thing people would actually have space to display now, though, cos that two big long trailers base was huuuuge.

And then they looked at FTs Menasor which has carbot scaled arm cars not bulked up with faux shells and thought well people seem to be OK with that so let's scrap the car shells. I personally think FT's Menasor arms look scrawny as hell with those small cars, and it's a shame XTB's set no longer will have the shells as an option at least, but that's removing what would be pretty large expensive pieces.

Need to see what this actually looks like now!

 

I agree, I liked the bulkiness of the arm shells but iBot did say they are minimized, not removed entirely. You might find things like Dragstrips rear wheels having bigger covers with a larger spoiler is just enough to add that size with out being a total shell.

Lets wait for images and cross those fingers.

I don't think XTB are willing to let this fail, this set is them stepping up in a massive way and proving they have moved their business forward. I can't see them falling at the last hurdle now
