Now that I own the figure, re-watching episodes REALLY brings this toy to life. It's unreal how they captured the on screen presence.

I feel this even moreso than with Dinobot, and THAT figure walked right off the screen too.

 

So just took him out the box ... is he supposed to be wrapped in two strands of plastic wrap? Also his back comes out the gate untabbed on one side ... I’m a lil worried but dnt wna come across as a big pussy ...

 

yea thats normal, mine had that aswell, probably mistransformed in the factory

Yes, he's wrapped in those two plastic strands, to help compress the back panels during transportation I'd imagine. And yes, mine were un-tabbed slightly too.

 

While it's relatively new in Transformers packaging, you'll often find many Japanese collectibles wrapped in plastic in some manner in the tray. I think it's to prevent paint scuffs from the packaging. Now that more and more Masterpieces are fully painted, I think TakaraTomy's starting to do this too.

 

K, I just opened a Pliny the Elder to steady my resolve ... I work nights so only have a few hrs of precious alone time with Rexy before the wifey comes home, then I’ll switch to a nice red vino for social purposes ... I noticed she moved the box into the corner of the guest room in disgust this morning so I might have an unwanted fidget-spinner BW Megs by the time night rolls around ... fun times I swear!

Yeah, that's exactly why they do it, to prevent paint rub. Megatron had the plastic wrap between the dino arms and the body, as well as the upper leg/hip cannons and the body as those parts were most likely to wiggle and move in transit.

I just got mine about an hour ago and I've transformed it just once. The slider joint inside the chest was super stiff, but rather than pull hard and put a ton of force all over the figure I just used a small plastic pry to get some leverage to pop it out. Worked like a charm.

So far so good, tho I'm noticing a bunch of little things that most reviewers seem to be missing in their rush to be 'first' in reviewing it. The lower part of his waist also slides forwarded in robot mode, and if you look carefully both sides on the backpack actually peg together at the bottom of his back. These two little things really help clean up the overall shape of things.

The backpack shell feels plenty solid to me. I don't really get the impression I'm going to break it or get nasty stress marks even if I'm a little quick or rough with it. The only part that concerns me in regards to structural integrity is the bottom of his, well, 'crotch'. The purple plastic there has some worrying swirls and in some light looks like it might have micro fractures in it. It's all together on mine, but I'm going to keep a close eye on it regardless.

 

No the date still says Wednesday. It moves around pretty fast. USPS has it now but there’s a problem on THEIR end now...

Naw, remember people here were pissy about the stand they didn't want that added to the cost of Dinobot and was ugly to boot. If he was 2000 yen more expensive and came with a stand people would be whining about paying for a stand they don't want in the first place. I was actually hoping they would start including them with the bigger releases. Prime and Megatron have there own, but I love to see one with Galvatron Or Rhinox. Actually @Actar posted a pretty interesting article about a Macross company and what production cost look like for them. It kind of explained alot about cost.

 

Freaking DHL, it's already in my city but they just have to take an extra day just because of an address change (same city).

 

Figures that are magic: Mp36 Megatron. Dinobot, Blackarachnia, Terrorsaur, maybe Airrazor. Possibly Mp44 Prime.

BW Primal and Megatron? Phenomenal figures. But most assuredly not magic. They didn't have to be.

Oh you mean like on tfsource where it literally says it comes with an extra display base.... pretty easy to get “comes with a stand” out of that when nearly every pic shows him posed with what could absolutely be considered an “extra display base”

 

MP-36 didn't have lights did he? The switch changes the sound effects right? Been a while since I played with it and I don't own an official one anymore. MP-42 has a switch under a panel on the back of his dino head...not entirely sure what it does though. Can anyone enlighten us?

If it's anything like IT-01 it will come with all the original's accessories and then some.
