Am I excited that these characters are getting some really nice recognition thats true to their g1/zone stylings? Totally.
Do i think its cool we're getting so much mileage out of weird molds like Overlord and Topspin/Twintwist? Totally.
Do i think that there are some things we can be a little critical about? Totally.

The hollowness in the back of Dai Atlas's legs is a little really jarring. I know because of the transformation its kinda hard to get some mass back there, but even one more panel so it was just the backs that were hollow would have been nicer. The legs are two out of a four possible walls. Theres more nothing than leg. On a legends figure? Sure what the heck we gotta cut corners sometimes, but the Overlord/Skyshadow mold is a leader sized mold, and this is an exclusive character whos part of an over $200 (here in Canada) Box set. Things like that, and road fires empty treads, are not really showing the quality i look for when dropping that much money on three action figures.

Personally i would have been cool with them scrapping that new waist joint that eliminates Dai Atlas from becoming two halves if it meant we spent more time filling out those legs.

They could have added a folding panel for the inner side that either folded up between the thighs for vehicle mode or folded out and fold in front of the tops of the knees.

    1. I\'m glad that there are people that are getting something they want.
    2. I recognize everything is subjective.
    3. This looks absolutely ridiculous to me. Here\'s a plane with some more planes and a tank attached to it!

But you can probably get creative and find a way to combine them. That's kind of the beauty of Titans Return and Siege - having 5mm pegs and holes everywhere creates an environment where fans can just go wild with their imaginations.

It's a decent looking set but in no way is it worth the $159.99 (or more) that sites are gouging for it.

    Sooooooo........ [IMG]

Yeah, the concept isn't the strongest of the Transformers gimmicks and it's clear even in Japan G1 toy ideas had run out of gas, but it still has that anime mech charm that we never had in the US toyline which I find appealing.

I wonder if these will drop in price like a lot of the $150 range figs do (Fort Max, Trypticon etc)? I got all my Titans under a hundred bucks by waiting it out (and a lot of luck). Any chance this will drop to around 100-110ish?

The set costs around 15,000y. That's around $135 for us. Add shipping - probably about $10-15. BBTS probably gets a wholesale price on them but, on face value, they're only making about $10 and some change off each set. How is that gouging, exactly? That's less than 10% markup.

If you're complaining about spending $160 on $90 worth of figures, though, you'll need to talk to Takara on that one - they are the ones starting the price at $135. But the fact they usually only make a limited amount of them means they need to raise the price to recoup the cost of lost sales that would normally occur at retail.

Never. This set isn't a mass retail product. There's only going to be so many of them and the original MSRP is high to begin with. No retailer will cut the cost so low as to lose money on them - they'd rather sit on them and let inventory dry up until their $159.99 price is the best option in the field. A good example is UW Ruination. By the time I was interested in getting him, inventory was drying up and BBTS still had him for $159.99 (the price never budged). The cheapest you could get it for on Ebay was about $190-200 since inventory was drying up in Asia. Suddenly, that $159.99 price for a big repaint didn't look so bad.

Imagine how I feel. I'm paying $159.99 for Dai Atlas. I don't give a fuck about the other 2, I can't even remember their names most of the time. They're kinda cool looking & I'll be happy to have them in my collection but I care nothing for them. Unfortunately:

    1. I LOVE Dai Atlas & he's been at the top of my wish list for ages.
    2. I want every Prime Wars Trilogy related figure/mold. (even though that's totally impossible thanks to Botcon & TFCC)
    3. If I don't get it now it will go up to $300 or $$400 in no time.

Personally, I prefer the negative opinions/comments. They seem more real. Whenever I look at reviews for a toy, movie or video game I pay no attention to the positive glowing reviews. The negative ones tell the truth. I don't care about what's great about it, I can see that for myself, I want to know the flaws & what to avoid or watch out for. The fact that Dai Atlas can't separate the jet from the transport fucking sucks. And his hollow legs suck. And the price totally fucking sucks. And Sonic Bomber sucks, it's a big black blob that doesn't really have any wings. Why is it so bad to say so?

He never did before, why would he now?
To that, I and most other fans agree.
    Still cheaper than the original.
It's not. Opinion is relative. But so are expectations and it sounds like yours were a tad too high, relatively speaking.

I really try to reserve my rants for issues of import. I don't always succeed.

I saw in one of the photos Dai Atlas hollow leg is filled with Road Fire's legs. How secure is it to attach it like that and can it be done with Twintwist?
