I have a feeling that after TFP, he wanted to retire being a voice actor and live the rest of his life in peace. Considering how big bayverse used to be, he probably thought TLK would be a perfect spot to end his legacy but instead it became a total waste of his time. Things just hasn't been the same since he disappeared on us. Do you guys get the same feeling that we'll never hear from welker again because of TLK?
I want one last battle or scene between Cullen's Optimus Prime and Welker's Megatron. Something truly epic that will be talked about for years afterwards. And then I want them both to retire. I would hate it if one of their last performances were for a commercial or something of that nature.
I seriously doubt Frank Welker wanted to end his voice acting career with The Last Knight. Sure, he hasn't been in any recent Transformers media, but that's mainly because there hasn't been much for him to appear in. Megatron, who is among Mr. Welker's most popular roles, wasn't in Bumblebee. Had Megatron been in the film, I can almost guarantee that Mr. Welker would've been the one to play him. And the reason he isn't playing Megatron in Transformers: Cyberverse is because that show is recorded in New York, not LA where Mr. Welker is based. That's the same reason why Peter Cullen hasn't reprised as Optimus in Cyberverse as well. Frank Welker is still doing voice work. He's reprised as Scooby and Fred in a lot of recent Scooby-Doo projects, and he's been in a bunch of other projects recently. Just because he hasn't been a part of Transformers media recently doesn't mean he hasn't been doing voice work recently. He's a talented voice actor and one of the all time greats of the industry. If he's ever asked to come back for Transformers, I seriously doubt that he'll say no. Heck, I'd be a little surprised if he doesn't reprise as Megatron in the upcoming War for Cybertron Netflix series.
I think Frank still likes doing his job like the post above just not a lot of Transformer media these days cartoons/video games are in the same state as the movies. Frank is going be the Scooby in another movie coming up and I am sure he is doing other horror movie work.
Uh no... Frank Welker has plenty of work. He's more than just Megatron. See him reprise a role of his in Aladdin 2019.
I'm pretty sure Mr Welker would want to back as Megatron, especially after the way Megatron was portrayed in TLK. We can only hope that both Peter Cullen and Frank Welker come back for the War for Cybertron Netflix series next year.
Would be cool if he gets to voice Megatron again in a sequel to Bumblebee or in the new Netflix series.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but... if we include VA roles as proper acting (which they are), isn't Frank THE most prolific actor in the entirety of human history? He's got 835 credits on IMDB. Man's a fecking legend, ain't he?
Frank Welker has 1702 voice roles on behindthevoiceactors.com. The only person who has more roles than he does is Jeff Bennett.
I have read several weeks ago there is going to be another Scooby Doo animated movie with Welker back as the voice of Fred. But Matthew Lillard was pissed that he was not going to be the voice of Shaggy.
