While some people do celebrate the above instances of overt adherence to western cultural norms and values, others may cringe and overlook them as occasional mishaps in an otherwise interesting saga.
I'd argue there is greater appeal in the more unique concept of alien robots with a culture and history independent of humans. Mimicry of human behavior by robots is hardly unique.

Or you rob them of what makes them fantastical and nuanced and simply make them mundane "metal people" who's entire society and sociology is simply 1:1 of Western humanity's.

Transformers should have their own unique qualities that are analogues to human issues, but not literally human issues themselves. Having them simply do everything people do is self-indulgent and insipid beyond belief, and stifles the creative outlets the brand allows you instead of expanding on it.

So it's one or the other? Because all that sounds fucking stupid to me. :lol

I'll celebrate Transformers for its ability to create a fictional world without falling back on lazy, paper-thin parallels and jumping on current issues to attempt cheap broad appeal. I'll celebrate the stories that stand the test of time because they didn't indulge in the issues of the time and instead told their own, unique stories whilst still maintaining relatable characters and circumstances.

If they're just going to be humans in all but visuals, then what's the point?

    1. I didn’t write the comic but if I had to guess he was experimented on and maybe they couldn’t

    2. Again I didn’t write it. He eventually did get it fixed but for a long time. he just didn’t maybe out embarrassment? I don’t know.

    3. They don’t call it a disorder out right. There’s a line between disorder and disability it. It can depend on a point of view and if it affects your liveley good it’s possible it could be viewed as a disability but these are giant fictional robots who fight so whatever. And you can’t always just switch bodies. Some are so old you can’t just do that. Kup in IDW was so old it took years for him to recover from what happened to him in his spotlight because his body was so out dated they didn’t know what to do for example. Same with Megatron when he became an autobot. He went thrkight cosmetic changes but it’s very much stated his insides are a mess and doing anything to him internally would be dangerous.

It’s not ridiculous to put human qualities in transformers because it’s makes them more relatable to their audience. It gives you the opportunity to relate to them better and build a bond with them.

Hey didn't Walter Benjamin have something to say about the maintenance of flimsy ideology on the sole basis of a e s t h e t i c s?

In any case, Geomotus is described elsewhere as being non-neurotypical which we've seen plenty of times in generations past (omega supreme anyone?). also another pro-tip; "disability" is a legal designation while "disorder" is a medical designation. Therefore "openly disabled" in this case probably just means that a) Geomotus understands their own disorder as such and b) Cybertron has some sort of legislation for disabled people.

But srsly, if you're more upset about the aesthetic interruption caused by the appearance of people with disabilities than you are with the tf x sonic the hedgehog crossover i don't think aesthetics is what you really care about.

If Transformers 84 becomes a series, it will be treading the same ground as the other current series. Pre-Earth, same characters, etc. Seems like bad planning. Sounds good though.

My only experience with Sonic is the MegaMan crossover Archie did. I don't really need another crossover with his endless army of goofy friends, but I'm sure a lot of people would like it.

What does it mean that EJ Su was there “in spirit”? Did he really not show up?

We already got it once with Regenation One going on for 2 the same time as the others and it wasn’t confusing.

I’m openly waiting for IDW to be openly sold and these jokers to be openly handed pink slips.

I’m also openly thirsty. I openly think I’ll openly have an openly open beer.

Evac account supports Evac. Moving on...
I wonder if this would be IDW's answer to X-Men '92.

It’s quite awful to hope people lose their jobs, which would affect their lives.

You know, I'd be a lot more excited for Transformers: '84 if everything we're getting right now wasn't so slavishly G1.

Eh, used to be that you could give nice, constructive criticism to comic book writers, and not be threatened, doxed, etc. Since the advent of social media, this is no longer the case. Thus, I see more and more fans just wanting a poor creators axed.

DC will hire the worst of the IDW castaways for a new round of "How Bad Can We Tarnish Vertigo Comics This Time?". Whoever has the biggest daddy issues will get to write the new JSA, where they're all openly racists or pedos raping their sidekicks. They'll all be fine, even without IDW.

Tell me about it. It's hard to get excited for anything G1 related nowadays when you have almost everything G1 related. Talk about having too much of a good thing.

Yeah. New writer and artist but I’m seeing some of the same complaints from the previous embarrassing iteration of comics. These guys on the panel are the only common denominator between last version and now. So, the likely source of the problems are becoming more apparent.

For goodness sakes, one of them was a freaking no show! How unprofessional. No wonder they’re in the red.

I for one am excited about Transformers 84.

Not so excited about the name, however Furman and especially Guido on TF's again is amazing news.

It's a shame they are doing a 1 shot. You'd assume they are testing the waters, however surely a miniseries would be a better way of doing that?

I think AT&T will start to put its paw print on DC, and the abomination that is contemporary Vertigo does not mesh well with AT&T's values.

I hope that with the release of Transformers 84 # 0 increases the chances of IDW launching an adaptation of Alignment with Kei Zama as artist.
