So, this might be a stretch but would anyone be interested in just the wheel parts and/or the forearm guards? After messing around with the kits I've decided I won't be using them.

So I got the regular Dk-08 and Dk-08+. I canceled my combined kit for SDCC PotP Optimal Optimus. I wasnt sure how much I really liked this figure, and I wasn't sure if I liked him enough to buy two of the same sets in different colors.

My conclusions? I still don't know if I like him enough.

I've had no QC issues. So that's fine. But PotP Optimal Optimus is probably the most grudgingly made, grudgingly released transformer Hasbro's ever made and this set does little to change that. Does it make it better? Absolutely. Does it make it more legitimately "leader-class". Very much so. How essential is it? Ehhhhhhh.

For the DK-08 set, the real name for this should be the "car mode set". The wings that come with it are hysterically enormous. I'm not sure if they are cartoon scaled or what. But they give the guy almost a Legends God Ginrai /w PE wingspan. The ones that come with Optimal Optimus may be better for bot mode. For vehicle mode, these longer ones look nice. But it's close. The rest.. the wheels are fine, but only look good in car mode (and "more accurate" to the BW figure in robot mode. The guns are dumb looking and add nothing. The swords are... fine?

Basically if you get DK-8 comes down to (1) if you like long wings or short wings in bot mode and (2) if you like the car mode at all. If you do, buy them. If you don't care, don't. It's as simple as that.

The DK-08+ kit is the kit that you should buy if you primarily keep him in Robot mode. The hands are fantastic compared to whatever those sorry things that Optimal Optimus came with, so that's an easy slam dunk. The guns are better too. As for the panels... well, that's kind of up to you. They are a lot better than the ones he comes with. Having them will allow you to have panels on the forearms AND shoulders if you please (though shoulders only is BW Cartoon Accurate, and fore arms is PotP cartoon accurate). Doing so looks pretty good. I'd say this is the much easier buy.

It just comes down if you like PotP Optimal Optimus or not. I never got the BW figure, so he was new to me, and while he has his problems, he's pretty cool. But everything about it just screams Hasbro saying to fandom "We can't believe we gave you an option for Star Saber or Shockwave or Ultra Magnus, and you chose a sub-leader class Beast Former, that only could be leader class in his strangest, most questionable form that is totally out of sync with everything else we're selling. Are you trolling us?"

Buying DK-08+ turns him into in effect, a $75 figure. Is he worth $75? Maybe. Is he worth $100 if you buy both sets? Certainly not IMO. I'd offer the contrast that I got the set to upgrade SS Grimlock, and a set from another company to turn the White Combiner Wars Optimus Prime into Nova Prime. I felt those dramatically increased the value of the figure.

This? DK-08+ is cool. But DK-08? Probably not.

So will I buy the SDCC colored set? No. SDCC Primal looks cool, but not $60 on top of what I paid cool. Not when 2019 is going to be expensive for transformers.

he utilized both panel positions, along with no panels at all in various episodes of beast wars, so all of it is accurate to the original

he never had both, bad wording on my part, but there were times where he had them on the forearms, other times on the shoulders and other times not at all

Got my kit a few days ago. Watched Bens Collectibles review and he like I had an issue with the wheels rolling. Seems like the pin it's on is driven in an angle causing the issue (on both parts). Is this an issue with everyones?

    Pinned poorly.

Great!! One of the few times I'm going to try and get a part replaced. While I don't expect to get one that rolls.I think they used too large of a pin. One of mine is pretty bad. Two DNA kits I got this week both had a few issues. This one had a couple more things besides the wheel. Disappointing.

I don't have the stresses that you do, but the pin is offset and set too deep thus causing the wheel to stick like glue. It'll turn if I manipulate it by hand, but yeah, it's pretty much a static piece at this point.

I think DNA is dragging their feet getting a second wave of kits out which may explain your delay. I'm still waiting for one and the retailer I go with mentioned DNA being fairly silent on when restock may occur. Bummer that CP hasn't at least responded to your inquiry.

Well at least CP got back to you. It definitely seems like DNA isn't the best company to deal with. Communication seems piss poor.

Finally got the 08+ kit today. Was waiting for that one to arrive before deciding on how I feel about the kits. I think overall they're fairly good. The first kit (minus the unmoveable wheel) is vastly superior. I love the added bulk in bot mode the wheels add, the guns are fantastic, and the added alt mode is wonderful. The second kit doesn't seem to hit as well, the hands while the size adds a nice aesthetic the fingers are stubby and don't pose as dynamically as I'd like. The shields also aesthetically are great but can hinder articulation. The cannons in kit 2 also aren't too big of an improvement, they telescope a bit (laughably though) and have lost there ability to store because of the new leg wheels. Kit #2 is easily passable I think. Still a ton of fun to pose and fiddle with with everything added in, LOVE the car all done up. Better than their Predaking kit easily but falls a bit short of their Devastator one. In all honesty though the green eyes from Toyhax are the best upgrade anyone can purchase. 20190327_172734-1.jpg 20190327_163921-1.jpg 20190327_163529-1.jpg 20190327_140531-1.jpg

welp, been about 2 months now, growing increasingly impatient with @Chosen Prime and their lack of customer service with my issue. really tempts me to move all of my preorders elsewhere, somewhere that isnt going to drop the ball with replacement parts or at least attempt to make things right

ToyDojo is good, so is Agabyss. If you want even better than that customer service, you'll want BBTS.
