Hey, for people who are confused as to why Hasbro chose a different alt-mode for Long Haul this time, go back and watch the Devastator combining scene in ROTF. Long Haul's alt mode appears only for a brief second straight out of nowhere, and is largely obscured due to the shot focusing on Fitz and Simmons, but.....

....it is indeed fairly close to the new toy - especially compared to the old ones.

The old toys, being based on early concepts, have the wrong alt-mode. This is the same situation as TLK WWII Bumblebee, where they changed the alt-mode in the movie at the last second, resulting in a robot mode with kibble and details that match the early alt mode and not the final one.

I'm fully expecting a yellow Rampage to pop up. I think we still have about a year's worth of Contructicons to go, so I could see them re-releasing him in yellow closer to the end, so people that missed him the first time around (or bought the inaccurate red version) can pick him up.

I kind of doubt that will happen, since Payload was a toy-only character. A more likely yellow repaint/remold would be Canopy, who I'm really hoping for at some point.

Actually he was in the ROTF video game as well, he was one of the generic drones you fight.

Talking repaints and remolds. Im hoping that hasbro re uses all of the constructicons at one point or another, either for obvious uses or not. (kinda like how they used copter mode dropkick for copter mode drift with impressive results)

Demolishor, Onslaught, Canopy, and Yellow Rampage being the obvious ones. The potential for G1 repaints of all of them, while unlikely, excites me.

What would really make my day though is that whatever they decide to do with the constructicons molds (outside of straight repaints) is that any reuses of the figures would still retain the combination gimmick.

imagine a "Devastator" built out of Demolishor (white) onslaught (bright green tow truck) Canopy (if the two legs happen to be interchangeable) and whatever other repaints they might do.

Man, underwhelming as the size is compared to the original, I bet Short Haul here will fit in well with the other members for the most part, considering some other bots have shrunk a bit.

Honestly the only thing that upsets me with the new mold is a lack of articulation at the hands, which seems to be fairly obvious. So far, they have seemed to try and show off every moving joint on the box art bot modes, but it's hardly a deal breaker.

I can see some sort of convention box set with G1 colors or something silly like that.

Yeah, there's definitely a lot of potential. Another good one would be Trench from Scrapmetal.

I'd much prefer it if the story designers would actually use the different sizes of the alt modes as part of the story, rather than trying to make all bots approximately the same size. We could get a toy line that actually was all in a consistent scale for once (not counting Binaltech/Alternators)!

Imagine if seekers in fiction really were 5 times the size of a standard car robot, the way a jet fighter should be compared to an automobile. How much more terrifying the Decepticons would be if they were not only more heavily armed, being based on military vehicles, but also significantly larger planes and tanks!

21482223-B87A-43C4-B679-DD69A398CAD5.jpeg Huh. So I was looking at this and I don’t think it’s actually THAT much shorter.

I noticed it was a little bit more forward than the other. So I marked about the middle of the foot and measured to the top of the head (1). I copied/pasted it to the other and saw that he was actually just only a head shorter.

I then noticed that the torso wasn’t pegged into the hips. (2)

So I took the measurement of that and added it to the initial measurement. (3)

So this is, obviously, all an estimate. The perspective of the shot make it very and the original figure being improperly transformed throws things off. On top of all that, the way the backpack works on the ROTF adds quite a bit of artificial height and the new figure’s proportions are not as lanky as the original.

TLDR: the new one is shorter but not as much as it seems.

I wish we could get the bot mode from the SS version and the dump truck mode from the original version.

Unf. Long Haul is such a thicc boi. 12/10.

But seriously. The ROTF voyager killed me. I really liked all the Constructicons and it killed me how inaccurate the ROTF voyager was. I always hated how the legs were so skinny, and how the wheels never sit properly over the shoulders. This new voyager fixes all of that for me. To hell with size, to hell with scale. I'd rather have a Long Haul that looks like it's on screen CGI instead of one that's merely big and isn't accurate at all.

He's almost as wide as he is tall. He's beautiful.

Also unless mine eyes deceive me it looks like he even has a waist swivel to go with those ankle tilts. Thicc yet flexible, the best of both worlds.

BLACK MAMBA would probably just make him the size of a toddler.

Agreed, It's one of my favorite TF games besides Decepticons DS and the Transformers Armada game for the PS2.

I was actually playing it earlier on my PS3 ironically enough. I was playing through the Autobot campaign and just beat Devastator.

It's always fun going back to replay the classics.
