I take it that to transform the Skin pieces without breaking them you have to remove them and assemble then.

What did you mean by the internal shoulder friction joint?!

 

He only remove them to have a clearer view for audience.

 

Just maybe it would be an easier idea.

 

He has a friction joint that sits inside the butterfly joint (think of it like where your scapula is located) which is used to raise and lower the shoulders like a shrugging motion and then on his physical shoulder is a ratchet joint to move the arm. MP-36 Megatron has the same sort of assembly if you look at his shoulders.

They won't break, but taking them off makes transforming his back a hell of a lot easier. His back is a bit tricky to get right the first time.

 

I was just told they were thin plastic, so I assumed breakable.
