It's actually a deep orange. I'm an avid user and vocal advocate of GSI Creos Mr. Hobby Aqueous Hobby Color, that's a few coats of their clear orange over clear smooth fine detail (including the back/underside of the plate getting a couple of coats before putting it on the Master), with the base of the central Prime sigil picked out with smoke grey (clear grey) that I then carefully went over with a small amount of black (because it was a bit faint for my taste) whilst it was still wet and the two mixing seems to have tamed the black making it less harsh. The gold is a homebrew mixed from metallic silver and clear yellow because their straight gold paint isn't as vivid a yellow shade as I like my "gold" detailing.

 

@Trentulas You wouldn’t happen to have a faceplate that in anyway resembles this guy, would you?

 

I don't have much like that. The closest is probably Birdbrain, and he's not terribly close. Commissions are open, though.

I saw the Covenant of Primus browsing Shapeways earlier but noticed the version with the peg doesn't come in full color sandstone. Any particular reason for that? Or just an oversight?

The Dark Energon Orb seems to be the same way. They look awesome in full color but would love to get them with toy functionality that way.

 

FCS doesn't work with pegs. There's a lot more variance in FCS thickness because its sprayed down with what is basically superglue post-printing. Its impossible to guarantee a good fit and the pegs and ports are prone to breakage.

Full Color Sandstone is more Hummel than Hasbro, so I keep it to diorama objects and figurines. I can do things like the pretender shells because the Titan Master doesn't have to fit tightly within the pit.

 

Gotchya, makes sense. I actually do have a gun printed in FCS from another Shapeways shop that I got in my first order when I was trying to get a feel for what Shapeways was actually capable of. It came out pretty good, but did have some issues fitting into the hand at first until the handle got worn down a bit, and I always take extra care with it. I can understand being hesitant to actually offer that.
